So i got accepted into UCSD as a human biology major and got muir college. These were both my first choices. I’m just looking for some advice and input from anyone who has some insight. I want to become a cardiothoracic surgeon and was wondering if this would be an ideal school for me. I also got accepted to UCR and im waiting on UCLA and UCI
What attributes would make a school and “ideal school for you?”
I would want to go to a school with excellent research opportunties, great professors, great pathway towards medical school so they would help me be prepared for that fast paced environment, and financies would play a huge role in my desicion as well but regardless of price. I was just wondering which out of the schools i applied to would be the best desicion and just wanted different opinions
You definitely described UCSD right there^ there are tons of research opportunities for undergrads and the professors, particularly in the life sciences, are often pioneers in their fields. There are medical students and researchers available for you to talk to, and three hospitals on campus (for a total of 1024 hospital beds) that you can volunteer at. That’s not to mention the research labs and outpatient clinics within a mile or two of campus (UC San Diego Health operates at least 10 clinics, Scripps has another hospital up Torrey Pines, the Salk Institute and Sanford Consortium are across the road, and a shuttle runs every 30 minutes to the UCSD Hillcrest Medical Center).
@DoctorP thank you so much! That helped a lot!!! (:
