So I got into a heated discussion with my sister about college. I found out recently that I made UCSB (business economics) and UCSD(economics mangement of science). When talking to my sister she believed that there is no point attending those schools because I'm a business major. She says that I should only consider UCB or UCR because they have a business undergraduate school that emphasizes business and that I might not like the economics majors from SB or SD because theres not enough focus on the broad arranges of business. I argued that how can you compare UCR with UCSD, I mean even if UCR does have business admin it definitely doesn't hold the same type of reputation as graduating from UCSD. What are your thoughts?

depends on ur plans for grad school or ur career goals.

Chances are u will get into grad school from SD if u wanna go to grad school.

Tough call.

Are the curriculum of programs that different? Or is it just the name. I don't think employers would care much and prefer SD as well.

The only reason to go to UCR is if they were the only UC that accepted you.

i think that what really matters in the end is a good school rep, probably a good gpa, and a whole lot of connections and experience (internships, etc.)

I go to UCR right now and I'm trying to get out. Thank god i got into UCSD. Well, the curriculum is more or less the same. Schools teach you the theoretical stuff and it's all up to you in deciding how to apply it. I like UCSD because of it's quantitative emphasis in the economics major. UCR isn't that bad, but it isn't that great either. Feel free to ask me specific questions about UCR.

If you can go to UCSD, then go to UCSD. I currently go to UCR, and I've already been accepted to UCSB so i'm leaving no matter what. I am really happy to get out of UCR. I am still waiting for UCLA, but either way i'm out of here, thank god.
