UCSD Econ vs Stay at UCR Business Admin

Hi, I was recently accepted to UCSD's economics major from UCR's business administration major. I really want to work at an advertising firm when I grow up or open my own business.

I was wondering if I should stay at UCR or accept the transfer to UCSD's economics major. If I stay at UCR, I MIGHT be able to graduate 1 year from this quarter because I am ahead at UCR, but if I go to UCSD, I will probably have to stay there for 2 years.

I have a 3.89 GPA at UCR and 114 units

UCSD is very well known in economics (top 10 or 20) compared to UCR's business administration program which is ranked in the hundreds.

Money is no problem because I receive equal financial aid from both schools.

I was also accepted to USC's Marshall business school but I am afraid I can not afford it... I will have to pay 18,000 for tuition (not including living fees) after financial aid.

I am having an extreme dilemma right now... I really dislike UCR but if I can graduate from here in just 1 year... maybe I can endure it, but I do not want to give up such a good chance to go to a better school.

Which school should I go to?

Let me put it this way:

UCSD Economics will not train you whatsoever to work in the advertising field nor will it be any preparation for you to become an entrepreneur.

If you decide to come here, you will be taking mainly theoretical classes and not learn anything about “business” besides the occasional elective or two.

Actually there are a lot of internship opportunity and job opportunity that the school offers for econ students
thats where you get your practical experience
Oyama said a lot of classes you take are theoretical but I thought thats obvious…
you need to learn theoretical aspect first right?
I think you should just transfer since you don’t really like UCR anyways
its not like you are wasting a year because you will learn a lot but classes are definitely more competitive (Im assuming UCR isn’t that hard) and your gpa will most likely go down
just something to consider

La Jolla > Riverside

In every aspect.

Easy choice for me, go to the more respected, more prestigious, and overall better school in UCSD
