Chose UCLA over Berkeley last year as a biochem major…has never regretted ever since… I think both schools are decent enough and which ever you choose is really not too important(really, it just depends on your own preference, just like my preference of ucla over uc berkeley). No matter which school you choose, try with your best endeavor to achieve and acquire the most out of it is really important.

Berkeley’s my absolute top choice. Even if I don’t get into Berkeley and do get into UCLA, I’ll go to Santa Cruz instead. Living the last three years in SoCal, I’ve learned to despise it. :)

I live in the bay, and i still still despise socal, even tho my second choice is UCSD hahaha. I don’t like hot weather, i like nice cool weather.

I love how amazing UCLA is and perfect…but I could see myself going to USC better. They have a good design program, and I would feel so inadequate going to UCLA because it’s so dang perfect (especially the surrounding area) and the people there seem pretty close to it too.

I like the area around Berekeley though…really nice restaurants and cafes, and I like that it’s an artsy college town :)

I’d choose Berkeley, mainly because I’ve lived in SoCal for my entire life and I want to escape. It’s also a bit of sibling rivalry. My sister applied to Cal and UCLA with the same major, got denied from the former, and attended the latter. I want to see if I can beat her.

I wouldn’t mind to go to UCLA, but since I spent the first 10 years of my life in LA, I’d think the nostalgia would be odd as a college student.

It’s so nice to hear someone say that. ahahah I swear, man, breathing in that crisp and perfectly fresh bay area air is so much nicer than breathing in the warm, asfault-smelling, grey and smoggy air of LA. You breath deeply here in LA and you cough, you breath deeply in the bay and it’s like you took a drink of refreshing water or something. haha it’s weird…

@kapitan although ucla has a top notch engineering program berkeley’s is ranked 2nd in the nation tied with Stanford. All that aside, the ranking will matter when it comes to grad school. Besides, the difference is negligible since both schools are heavily recruited from.
