DD applied EA to a few schools and was deferred to RD for 2. They requested supplemental info (any or all)…resume, letter of interest, updated grades, rec letters, etc. We also added about 6 new schools for RD.
She is a 3.5 GPA/1200 SAT. She has all honors classes and two AP’s. Senior year first quarter grades look solid and she had an A in AP Bio. I think this looks good since she wanted direct admit BSN. But she also had a C+ in Pre Calc. All the rest are A/B.
Many schools require midterm grades that the guidance counselor will upload so you may not have a choice. Your D will need to check the admissions requirements for the schools on her list.
I know that this does not answer the question that you asked. However, in my experience students who struggle in precalculus usually find calculus very difficult. Students who do very well in precalculus usually find calculus quite straightforward. You might want to consider getting a tutor for precalculus just on the basis that this will help her in the future if she needs to take calculus at any point in time.
If she is headed to a major that will not require calculus, then this would be less of a concern.
@DadTwoGirls She actually switched classes and now has an A. She is very strong in Math, just had a weird situation with a teacher with a heavy accent. (she’s dyslexic so she replies heavily on her auditory processing) She wants to do a BSN program. It looks like most require an Algebra and/or Statistics component.
I am not sure what you mean by first quarter grades. If your school is actually on a quarter grading system, then yes you can send the grades. If, instead, your school is on a semester grading system, then usually what you will send for RD, if they take any senior grades, is your first semester grades and not those grades given in the middle of the semester to show that you are progressing.
Even if you are on a quarter system, the typical process is sending a report after the first semester, which is after two quarters. These should be available at most schools by now.
If your school started very late, you could send first quarter grades, if that’s all that’s available, on Feb. 1. I think that is usually the mid-year report cutoff
As noted, check with guidance counselor and see if this was automatically sent. It quite often is.
