Would you say this is a unique extracurricular?

I'm a sophomore and I'm in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Band of the West. The band plays at many events throughout the year, especially military and patriotic events. Such events include the 70th commemoration of Pearl Harbor, 4th of July Parade in Redwood City, Scottish Games in Pleasanton, fleet week, and many more. We play around 40 events each year. We also have rehearsed with the Dublin Army Band, Navy Band in Hawaii, Navy Band in San Diego, and the Marine Band Parris Island. I joined in October 2011 and go to a training every summer and winter, including boot camp, marine corps martial arts, and music training in San Diego. I have reached the rank of Petty Officer 3rd class, (sea cadet rank) and I'm the 2nd chair trumpet player. Would this stand out to college admissions or should I find a more unique extracurricular?

Thanks!

ps I also do football, baseball, school band, student leadership, and I volunteer and I'm in CSF and NHS

You should do what you like to do and be happy. They don’t really care what you do as much as they care about the leadership and/or dedication/commitment/accomplishment you’ve shown in whatever it is you do.

I think it’s unique, though.

Obviously not since other people in the band do it.

insert pedantic comment about how “more unique” is not a thing

I almost forgot.

I would think it would stand out to service academies and other private military academies like VMI etc. for sure. Are you applying to any?

Otherwise I think it’s just music like anyone else in band or orchestra.

more unique?

maybe initiating world war III ?

ECA are ECA. apples are apples oranges are oranges i guess
