I just turned in my application (Mar. 20th). Surprisingly it did not ask for any EC's or an essay, so i'll just throw them in w/ my transcripts when mailed.

Basically, how much harder does it get applying this late?

Well now looking more closely...i can see that a direct admit to kelly is golden...

b/c my ACT isn't high enough, I'll have to apply separately to the business school.

"Current, Admitted Students

Here is a step-by-step guide.

For optimum consideration, apply online between January 1 and April 1. Reapply each spring. "

I'll probably be notified by April 14th or so for the regular university. And it does say "for optimum consideration", so there is no set deadline. However, at that point, how hard is it to get in? And is it for the fall semester?

Do I have a chance (I didn't mention that I own my own trading business, have sold over 1000 items on eBay and design websites) to get in applying mid-April?

What are the benefits of getting in early?

Can you apply after your 1st semester? 1st year? If so, how hard is it to get into then, and do you loose much by getting in later? Still the top business school at that point?

Well, you only missed the ACT score needed by one point (your 28 vs 29 needed) and the GPA needed by .1 (3.4 UW vs. 3.5 UW needed) for automatic admission to the Kelley Business School.

So, you can appeal the decision for direct admit, but I should point out that they are kind of strict on who gets direct admit status and who doesn't. Note: my son was 1260 vs 1270 SAT score needed and 3.3 UW GPA vs 3.5 UW GPA (3.7 W) and was not admitted on appeal. Nevertheless, I'd give it a shot since you have nothing to lose.

As far as admission to the university itself, you should be admitted easily;--and yes, it is one of the easiest college applications to fill out anywhere across the country.

Yes, but if I don't get in direct admit and apply after I get into the college itself, is it still valid for fall semester? Also, if i were to ace all my classes my first semester, can i apply then? The website is vague...

*I'm taking the ACT again in april....so can that score go towards the direct admit thing? counting my senior UW gpa, which will be about a 3.55?

I think if you retake the ACT in April they will count that--but you should ask them directly. Contact the Kelley School of Business admissions office at IU.

Otherwise, you have to apply after taking certain specified courses and completing at least 26 units of classes before you can apply. Basically this means you don't apply for admission to the business program at least until you finish your freshman year.

I think you misunderstood how admission to the business school works.

If you're not offered direct admit status, you have to wait to apply until the end of your freshman year. I think they're pretty loose on who they let in, as long as you have above a 3.0 college gpa.

You'll get into LAS no problem, but being so late in the game, I don't think they have any more direct admit spots to give out. IU had an entire day devoted to directly admitted students yesterday, so I don't think they'd offer direct admissions after that.

Ninyaha, with a you said youi were in a very competitive school so that leads me to beleive that you might be in the top 10%...the guideline is actually 3.5 OR top 10%, and 29 or 1270 i beleive. Anyway, I actually did appeal my decision to Kelley, I had a 28 on the act and a 3.8 gpa and ended up getting in...i think that if you do get the 3.55 as you mentioned you should get in.

It was on March 23, they had a bunch of speakers from the business school plus a tour of the business school and the rest of the campus. It was for kelley direct admit students only. If you were accepted late, that could have been the problem.
