Wow! I Got In On Appeal

so i just found out today that i got in on appeal for srping 2006. berkeley has been my number one for a very very very long time and i was so excited to get in. the only problem is the extension program already is on a waitlist basis and i dont want to miss out on the freshman expirence. i already sent an SIR to george washingtonand they know i was appealing berkeley. should i take my chances with housing or just have to turn down berkeley?

just because you got in for spring doesn't mean you will be missing out on the "cal experience". perhaps in the short term, you might feel like you got left out, but in the long run, you will be caught up, if not ahead of the regular fall admit students. besides, if it's your first chioce for a long long long time, then you SHOULD come here......

CONGRATS!

definitely take your chances....last year, Housing services was able to accomodate all Spring admits, even if it took until late august. Just get your app in immediately (overnight mail with copy of acceptance)....it's not first-come, first-served, but close.

:)

Wow that is cool! Tell us how what you wrote about on your appeal!

Forget GW...come to CAL! GO BEARS!

And congrats on your appeal.

Well, my college counselor told me not to put this award i won on the application becuase it wasnt academic. It was from the Human Rights Campaign and anyone who knows anything about gay rights would DIE for something from them, its the largest gay rights lobbying organization in the nation. So i put that on my appeal and talked about what i did to earn it, all the weird sexuality/gender stuff that berkeley would like (gender neutral bathrooms, workshops on the the non binary gender system, anti homophobia lobbying). I also put in my frist semester grades, 4.17 with mono (missed one month of school to sleep), a letter of rec from my counselor, some articles i wrote and a letter of rec from the former Editor-in-cheif of the daily cal.

post what they said on the appeal letter!

Whoo! congrats! Go Bears! Berkeley is an awesome city!

Wow so you really suggest putting in recommendation letters? I'm actually asking for my boyfriend because I also got into Berkeley but he would like to appeal. He's is so smart it's crazy he didn't get in. He got offered an internship in London so that seems like something he should bring up in his appeal. The only question I have about appeal is that I think it would come out sounding a lot like the essays for application. So how did you avoid this? Or did you not and reemphasize points from before? The funny thing is he is actually going to GW right now! What a coincidence!
