Wow, sold out football

Florida State Sells Out of 2011 Football Full Season Tickets!! Florida State Athletics announced Monday that full football season tickets have sold out according to Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations Ben Zierden. FSU has sold approximately 40,000 season tickets, but Seminole fans can buy a six-game pack that includes all home games except for Oklahoma.

Yes, Oklahoma is sold out. My D turns 21 the day before the game, so we are going up for the weekend. This last year, she would get me a student guest ticket. Same price as regular tickets, but I could buy just one easily and sit with her in the student section. There were no student guest ticket options for the UF or UM games. But I would go to 1-2 other games. I figured I would do the same this year, but i am guessing that Oklahoma will be a game that there are no student guest tickets. They have not announced student ticket particulars yet. So today I bought two. I do not want to wait and be stuck paying big prices to scalpers. I found tickets only marked up slightly on stubhub. By game time, they may be hard to find.

This will be an exciting year for FSU. I am hoping that the press conference Jimbo is having this week to update particulars about his son will be encouraging news as well. He is ill, the details had not been released, but it was sounding like maybe leukemia (just a wild guess based on the age and little info they released.) I am hoping that the stress of the illness and treatments might be easing up, especially since he and his wife are ready to speak. It has been 4-5 mos of no news.

How many tickets are normally allotted to students?

Last year there were 16,000 allotted to students. For big games, a student can only request their own ticket. For other games, they can request up to 2 guest tickets and pay the face value of the ticket. If there are more requests for tickets than tickets allotted, there is a lottery. The last few years there have only been a few lotteries. That is likely to change as wins increase.
