I just got my AP Biology test score entered in the online gradebook. I got a really bad grade (40/42, I was expecting at least 41) and once the free response is entered my grade's gonna drop below 98% and maybe even below 97%! Seriously I always get 100% on biology tests, but I checked the book right after the test and I know I definitely got five points off, possibly more on my free response... I can't stand getting below a 99% cumulative in Biology and everyone expects me to do well and it's really embarrassing but I didn't even have enough time to study because I was studying for a different test

How can I study more effectively to get my grades back up? I really don't want below a 99% overall, but I might have to live with it.

Wow, I just failed my APUSH multiple choice… 20.5/22 curved from 24 possible points…

this is my worst history test score all year. i honestly don’t know how to react to this. the teacher is probably disappointed in me, and i’m REALLY, REALLY embarrassed by this score

Well, you better rethink your goals. It now looks like you should set your sights on Community College. No college will take someone as arrogant as you.

Arrogant? I don’t think you understand what arrogant means. Before you try insulting other people, perhaps you think before you speak.

You’re calling me arrogant, but in no way did I degrade other people or criticize people who score lower than me. I haven’t made false claims about the extent of my own intellect, either–on the contrary, I have been disappointed in myself.

Is there something inherently wrong about setting high expectations for myself? If I know that I, as a student, am FULLY CAPABLE of getting full score, should I be satisfied with getting anything below that? I don’t think so. If I know I can maintain a 99%, I better do so, or I’m going to be disappointed in myself, and rightfully so. Are you trying to say that just because my personal goals are high, I’m being arrogant? I don’t think so. I think that previous test scores have shown that I am by no means overestimating my own ability.

Yes, I’m frustrated. Please, if you want to insult me this badly, then at least do it properly.

Then please don’t make a thread just for the purpose of whining about a 98%. What did you want to hear? What was your motive in making this thread?

I obviously wanted to see other people’s opinions on my situation and discussion, in general, of situations where one does not score well on a test.

Does this thread offend you that much? Then I would suggest that you stop posting in it.

“How can I study more effectively to get my grades back up? I really don’t want below a 99% overall, but I might have to live with it.”

-High Expectations are one thing, this is just an endless pursuit of perfection (which by the way is unhealthy). You are obviously getting the top scores in your class. Dipping below an A+ is in no way a failure. There are other people who are failing the class if it is graded on a curve, just food for thought. Your grades are FINE. Enjoy your life. Your condescending attitude just irritates me, that’s all.

Excuse me? You’re insisting that my grades are fine—that is, impressing your own goals and expectations on me—and criticizing me for being condescending? I hope you can see the contradiction here.

There is nothing wrong with seeking perfection, and I do not manage to achieve the highest score in many of my classes. My school is competitive, and I am by no means the top student.
