WOW....worst luck ever!!

Ok, so this was my second time taking the ACT and I feel horrible after taking it. My first ACT score was nowhere near what I would like or deserve, but felt I could really pull up my score this time. I thought wrong.....

I arrive at the test center exactly at 8, with no time to spare to check my stuff or mentally prepare...

I get to the room and we are crammed into this room with the little desks with the arm desk. I am a pretty big dude and this was not a good situation. This is just the beginning.

We take the English portion and I had to fill in 6 questions even though I have taken many practice tests with a lot of time to spare each time. I thought it couldnt get worse.

As the math portion lingered I got out my trusty ole TI-83 and hit the on button when all the sudden..............Batteries are low!!!! Shutting Off.

I pretty much ****ed my pants. I couldnt believe that I had that much bad luck. I know the problems can be worked without a calc. but it is just so much easier and the time becomes an issue without one.

I got through it, but had to guess on a couple of 'em.

Anyways...I can always take it again, but I thought this was my time to really knock it out of the park.

In retrospect all I can do is laugh. hahahaha

I always buy new batteries the night before a test.

you wanna hear unlucky…on the december test, i thought i got a 31.i ended up with a 29 so i ordered a copy of the test to see what was up…as it turns out i left 2 questions blank on the science for no reason at all and they were really really easy.if i had gotten 1 of those 2 right i would’ve raised my composite to 30

"I always buy new batteries the night before a test. "

Yeah that. And get there in a reasonable amount of time. I’m not sure of the circumstances but those are both priorities.

Yea…itwas def. my fault for the batteries, but it was just out of the blue and really thought I couldn’t be that unlucky. lol

Moral of the story: Always buy batteries. Always.

true dat…

Poor guy!! I bring a backup calculator lol. There’s nothing worse than feeling claustrophobic during the ACT…I’m a small girl but the first time I took it (it wasn’t at my school) I was so cramped in it was ridiculous. I was right in the middle of the whole room too and I really dont like to be “the center of attention” so to speak lol.
Hopefully your scores turn out better than you expect!!

yeah, you need backup batteries. But usually, the TI-83s give you a warning before shutting off… like if it first says batteries low, you’ll still get about an hour’s worth of use out of it… unless you KNEW that your calcualtor had low batteries and STILL didn’t change your batteries. That would have completely been your fault then.

I agree foxysoxy, I like being in the back, or the corner…I just feel like if Im in the front or on the middle, that Im being watched the like a hawk the whole time

aw im sorry. mine wasnt bad like that but it was… very embarassing…
when i get nervous my body malfunctions --
i walked into the room and my nose started running like crazy and their were no tissues in the room -- DAMN.
then i started sneezing… i guess its normal since it goes with runny noses.
hiccups started during the math section
AND THEN! when i thought it coudlnt get anyworse. my stomach growled. i couldnt even concentrate on the test.
i swear to god i must of ****ed off everyone around me
praise jesus i’ll never see any of them again.
