I am completely at a loss right now, and I am really stressing over this Michigan application. I would really appreciate it if anyone could clarify a few things for me.

I sent in my application on October 12. My guidance counselor and teachers got their recommendations and everything sent in a few days ago. At least, that's what they say. I know Michigan has rolling admissions, and I am worried if this will really decrease my chances of getting in. Just to give you some idea of where I am at, I have a 3.7 UW gpa in mostly honors/ap classes from a very hard dual-curriculum parochial school, 33 ACT composite, ridiculously good counselor rec, solid teacher recs, extremely well-written essays, and very good EC's. My counselor said it would have been a safety if I had gotten everything in earlier.

Just how much of a difference does it make that I got everything in like a week before the deadline? Is it like a 50/50 shot now? I'm sort of freaking out right now.

Also, I am trying to check my application status online, but it says I need my UMichigan ID, which it hasn't sent me yet. It says it will give it to me within 15-20 business days after sending in my application, but what good is it having it like 1 day before the deadline? Is there any other way to make sure that everything got in on time?

What is your weighted GPA? If your in-state I think your chances are about decent considering that you applied early, and your stats fall within their average range, you also mention that your school is dual difficult etc… which may give a preference to your application. Though since your counsler stated suggestions that the school would have been a safety for you there is probably more of your stats etc… that I’m not aware of as much.

I am out of state. I guess one of the reasons he said it was a safety was that I have accomplished something in my school that nobody has in the history of my school or a school like mine. I wont go into further detail because I am really paranoid. I dont know my weighted gpa exactly but its not as high as people in other schools who take a similar course-load because of my dual curriculum in which many of the classes are not tracked. I have like 2/3 A’s in my core academic classes.

Well I certainly would take counslers advice ( but ofcourse seek additional opinions). I think base off your counsler statements appears you had a great chance of admission, due to time length I doubt it could make such a more dramatic difference (due to priority date being met) but then again your counsler seems to state it does, in all I would just say I think your chances are decent if not ( and due to counsler statements) better.

You can call admissions or use the live help thing on the admissions page to see what they are missing. You wont know if its sitting in the mail room but if it has made it to your file they will be able to check it for you.

I applied a couple of years ago near the end of rolling admissions and had a lower ACT, slightly higher GPA and probably fewer extra credits than you and still got in. I’m in-state, but I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
