Wr100

With so many options to chose from, does anyone have any suggestions for WR100 and which teacher they had.

Also, if anyone tested out of 100 (my adviser said 99% don’t) what did ya take in 150?

unless your id # ends in a 0 or a 9, you're almost guaranteed to not get into the writing section you want (that's how they register courses with the exception of your first semester, 0's then 1's, etc for one semester and they reverse it the next semester). i got stuck with ancient rhetoric first semester and modernist short prose next semester. nice prof's, loved jeannie im, but the material put me to sleep.

Wait, what? Don't you register for the class you want at Orientation? That's what I did and (as far as I know) am signed up for the WR100 class I want...

I sent an email to my advisor(my orientation isnt until Aug 29th) and she got me my first choice for WR100, but I really think I will test out or have a transfer course get me credit for it.

yes, your first semester freshman year you sign up at orientation. im talking moreso about those having orientation later in the summer because a lot of the classes will be filled up. after your first semester, registration will be online. first seniors register, then juniors, then sophs, then frosh, and the order is determined by ID number.

My daughter is an international student and therefore won't get to orientation until Aug 29. The orientation people told her to contact her school advisor (SHA) to get registered for courses. The SHA advisor said my daughter had to wait until orientation. So it looks like international freshmen are pretty much out of luck for getting any courses they want. Any tips?

Ya I e-mailed my advisor and she said to send her a list of my top 5 choices, my orientation is aug 29 also, but I got my first choice.

I was at Orientation this past week (got back yesterday), and had to sign up for a WR100 class I didn't really want since it was one of the last orientations. I checked this morning and there was a spot in the section I wanted (History of Western Astronomy) which I quickly took. So even if you don't get the section you want (you probably won't, especially if you're going to the last orientation) just check every day and you'll get what you want.

I placed into WR100 and I took The Modern Novella with Professor Ress. I really enjoyed the class and the way she taught us how to write (very straight forward, to-the-point sentences). I found that my learning in this class contributed positively to my writing for other classes (especially for my business classes, since business writing is very short and gets right to the point.)

are the writing classes at BU hard? i heard somewhere that BU has one of the hardest university writing programs in the country.

it depends. both of my writing classes were a pain...ancient rhetoric and modernist short prose. but the classes are small so if you build a good rapport with your professor then theyll do what they can to help u do well in the class (generally). but yes, they require a lot of work and the wr150 research paper requires over half the semester.

There's a list of class descriptions here (since no one mentioned it):

I tried to check every course and professor, and I was able to select a supposedly nice and easy professor. Ratemyprofessor.com was really helpful; helps you avoid the wrong classes/instructors.

i'm attending the international orientation as well, but my advisor for SMG emailed me a while ago assisting me with registration. i've had my classes all registered for a couple weeks now. maybe you should contact your advisor again? all the classes were pretty much full by the time i was choosing my classes.
