Are you guys picking your courses for next year?

I really want to take Writer's Craft, but then it doesn't sound all that "rigorous" = =

What are you guys taking in grade 12?

Are you guys picking your courses for next year?

I really want to take Writer's Craft, but then it doesn't sound all that "rigorous" = =

What are you guys taking in grade 12?

I don’t understand why you care whether the course is “rigorous” if the syllabus interests you. I also don’t understand what you mean by “rigorous” in the context of a writing course, or how you would even measure it. Pages of readings assigned per week? Number of essays assigned a month? Why would any of this matter?

But anyway…

I took the following courses:

English (U)
Core French (U)
Religion (O)
World History (U)
Economics (U)
Calculus and Vectors (U)
Music (O)
Biology (U)

It doesn’t matter what you take as long as they’re mostly U courses and you do well in them.

If it interests you, take it.

My courses are:
English (U)
Literature Studies (U)
11 Economics (U)
12 Economics (U)
Biology (U)
Physics (U)
Chemistry (U)
Studies in Science (M)

Everything is IB except Bio =/.

Writer’s Craft is a U course at our school. Take it if you like it. I would if I were interested in it. It’s not like its an O course or anything. Also, the writing practice may come in handy while in uni. and you need to write a lot.

I’m taking:
-Advanced Functions - UN
-Calc. & Vectors - UN
-English - UN
-Bio - UN
-Chem - UN
-Physics - UN
-Data Management - U
-Business Leadership - M

(i will probably not be able to get all those UN courses because of scheduling. So, I’m gonna end up making to take a couple UN courses as U)

Woah no need to get all worked up, Mustafah…I am taking it because I’m really interested, I’m just curious as to what you people think.
My school sees it as a “hard” course while a friend of mine’s school sees it as the “slacker” course. So I’m wondering how other schools define it.
And yes “rigorous-ness” matters because it’s like one of the top judging factors for a lot of unis.

Why do ppl have to sound like they are responding to stupid chance posts everytime a question about opinions is raised?

panda, mustafah is just sharing his advice (like u asked him to) which is to take whatever course u enjoy. i agree with this since its much much easier to achieve high grades in courses u actually like.

my courses:
eng IB HL
history IB HL
french IB
math IB
Bio IB HL
Physics IB HL
chem IB
world literature
international politics
theory of knowledge

at our school I believe Writers Craft is an easy course, because our English dept. marks easily. However, at others schools it may be difficult due to marking. Since it is a U Englsih course, I’d think uni’s would definitely consider it to be a rigorous compository english course

I’m taking these courses this year:

World History (U)
Computer Science (U)
World Issues (U)
English (U)

Writer’s Craft (U)
World Geography (C)
Business Leadership (M)
Canadian History, 12 (U)

I adore Writer’s craft. I agree that it doesn’t matter if it’s rigorous or not…really it depends on the teacher. The teacher who taught it at my school last semester was too rigorous and a lot of people failed because of it, but the teacher who teaches it now is very relaxed about it. Take it if it interests you, it’s a U course. Do well in it, even if it’s easy and reap the average benefits.

writer’s craft you either love or hate. you ahve to be very extraverted and willing to totally ‘let go’ i guess, it’s not just writing but a lot of presentations etc…

^sounds funn
xD
