Writing a College Essay About.... Procrastination

This could be the dumbest idea ever. It could be mocked by everyone on the forums, but I will give it a go anyways. I read a college essay about how this person was horrible at sports and had a last place ribbon hanging on his/her wall. I think it is a common one so I bet some people know what I am talking about. Either way, to me it seems like a good college essay has to stand out. It can't be some "I overcame this" or "I learned this" type of essay. Even if it is an extremely well-written essay, there are so many other out there just like yours. So I came up with this idea while I still have time to write my essay (currently a Junior), when if I wrote an essay about procrastination? Kind of a humorous essay that pokes fun at myself a little. The problem, however, is that I feel like it has to tie into some kind of value or deep meaning. I feel like the opening sentence would really hook the reader in and make them pay attention to my essay. Thoughts?

It really depends on the content. An essay about procrastination or about you procrastinating in itself isn’t anything interesting. An essay standing out means nothing. Even bad essays can stand out. What really matters is the reason for which it will stand out.

What are you trying to tell through the essay? Procrastination is nothing special or unique, everyone does it. You need to add some substance to the topic. Else the reader will be like “ so he/she procrastinates…next”.

Every idea has already been done to death, so the success of your essay will be in how you say what you have to say.

You should also be aware that essays on procrastination are actually very common, so your will need to be incredibly strong to rise above the trope.
