After reading the thread on this forum about searching Monster.com for available volunteer/intership opportunities, I quickly email about 4 or 5 companies regarding my interest in a summer internship. Today, as I opened my email, I saw 2 replies from the companies I emailed - both of which said "Please attach a copy of your resume to your email."

Well anyway, given the title of the thread, most of you know where this story is going. I just finished my first year at a CaliCC, and have never had work/ volunteer experience. While reading the email replies sent back to me, I said to myself, "do they want me to send them a blank document or what?"

My dilemma is... how will I write an effective resume with my lack of work/ volunteer experience? Please give some ideas on what to write about.

have you played any sports, done any extracurriculars, do your parents make you work for your allowance or are you basically given everything based on "entitlement"?

You can just put your high school classes that may relate to the job, or some college courses that have given you skills (like the ability to think analytically, critically, objectively, etc.).

yeah i do play sports and have ECs, but none of which are relevant to the company.
I also am not really familiar with the format of a resume. Is it simply like a college application essay? I have no idea what to write, or how to write it.

you have MS word? they have resume wizard ... try that ...
dont make it look too fancy though ... =) it should be simple and elegant, i hope other people on the forum agree with me on that. =)

Convert it to Adobe PDF to make it extra snazzy. PDF locks in any formatting so it will be universal. PM me, I'll give you a sample resume of mine.
