Writing about Boy Scouts, but some might see it as "failing"

So I have been in cub/boy scouts since 1st grade. When I got into boy scouts, I didnt really try to advance for Eagle as quickly as everyone else was. Instead, when I hit 16 I became a Junior Assistant Scout Master. Rather than doing merit badges and whatnot for myself, I was helping the younger cub scount boys. This wouldn't be a bad thing right? (that i stopped going for eagle in order to volunteer with the younger kids [which i did find more enjoyable])

I think that doing what you wanted to do can make for a fine essay.

Make it personal, detailed, and revealing.
