Writing about passion.. Include girlfriend?

Hey everyone.
Here's my situation. For a good business school (no need to mention) the topic is to write about passion and how it drives us.

One of my loves is my long distance girlfriend. My distance from her as pushed me to start my own business to make money. Should I include this?? Is it too emotional? Too subjective? or should I stick to my love for business?

...probably not.

Because, someone might ask, "would he have started his business if she were around?"

-and wonder just why she had so much to do with it in the first place, which probably wouldn't look good to a business school admin officer.

A main goal of the personal essay is to give you a chance to stand out in comparison to other candidates.

Having a passion for a significant other does not appear to be, on the face of it, something that will allow you to stand out.

Therefore, imo if you decide to go this route, be careful to show that your passion is extraordinary, unusual in some way that is revealing of your passion for business, of your potential for excellence in business.

it really sounds like the essay could have potential, but i think i heard somewhere that you should always keep boy/girlfriends out of essays.

sad though, since i really feel like your essay could stand out and really show passion. i guess if you can make it work, you COULD try it, although there is definitely the risk factor

they could either be very impressed or the opposite very risky

Yes, I think you should

I'd say include it.

include it, if the essay is still about you.
