Writing Scores Up

Last time I will respond to you BarristerDad…

“JustAMom” is a play on my daughter’s name.

I’ve been a stay at home mom, and gave up a lucrative career to care for and parent my children for 18+years, and I am thankful for that decision every minute of every day of my life. To suggest that my screen name is an insult, quite frankly, is an insult.

You’re an idiot.

She’s clearly NOT being overly sensitive, you’re just being a complete dick, Barristerdad.

It’s no wonder you’re single, freak.

^ harsh.

but really, let’s all chill out and stop making sheer assumptions about other posters based on their names and what they think. If voicing our personal opinions was a bad thing the notion of a forum itself would be useless. we’re all here to gather information, not to fight like immature children.

I’m with you NYCSATBoy…The notion that (supposed) adults would deign to get in the middle (that is YOU JAX9021!) of a nonfight that would result in ad hominem attacks is more laughable than ridiculous. Thankfully, almost all the adults AND the students are unlike JAX and JUSTAMOM: responsible, considerate and not-hyper sensitive. Oh, JAX, most folks might report your epithet to the monitors. I’ll just say a prayer for you and wish you well!

lol barristerdad and justamom

BD:“Finally, xxjustamom, you’ve been a member awhile, but have rarely posted”

BD:“I have no interest in looking at your CC profile”

lol?

Anyway I completely agree with justamom, I went into the SAT cold and got a 9, then learned their writing style and got an 11. When I went to take the ACT I reverted to my “normal style” and received an 8. Obviously I was irritated, so I went BACK to “their style” and got a 10 the next time.
The whole thing is trivial, they should have just kept it as verbal as far as I am concerned XD
My AP Lit teacher (who has given me 3 8s and 2 9s for our practice timed writings) read one of my practice SAT essays and she was appalled. She questioned why my writing had devolved into such a mundane/formulaic approach and I said that that is what they require. She shook her head and called the whole thing pointless. (and I agree)

Ultimately, these stupid tests don’t gauge anything other than your ability to take them, however I can’t complain about my 35 XD Honestly this whole college process seems like such a mockery of true academia that I amazed that so many (including myself) persue it. It’s funny to think that the average person spends almost $500 (~3 AP Tests (255), 2 ACT/SAT (80), 3 SAT II (45?) application fee (50-100)) just to be in the running for the best colleges.

I can’t wait to be done with this nightmare, I envy the teenagers of the 90s, when Harvard had an 18% acceptance rate and the biggest issue was the President’s infideliety.

if you truly consider yourself innocent in this admittedly ridiculous battle, than maybe we should be the ones praying for you.

ex: you made an offensive and unfair assumption about a person, which is inconsiderate to begin with, and then when she corrected you and you (hopefully) realized you were wrong, you made no effort to apologize or admit fault. im not going to sit and read that crap on these boards.

Amen to that, jax! (And thank you!) :)

9 :/

I hate odd numbers

35 English, 9 essay.
I really hope colleges don’t care much, as I’ve heard.
