I did very very well on the Math and verbal sections, but I did not do as well as I expected on the writing section, which is usually my best.

I have heard from some people that colleges are still looking at the writing section as an SAT 2. Is this true? If I'm happy with my other scores do I need to go through the pain and agony of taking the SATs again?

I was touring with my junior and this question came up during an information session. The speaker commented that it helps them compare the style with the essays on the application to get a sense of whether the student actually wrote those essays (realizing that the SAT essay is under timed conditions)

We asked the Deans of Admission from Princeton, Vanderbilt, Lehigh, and Rhodes when they came to our campus. Their general consensus was that they hardly even care about it since they don't yet have data on how the writing score is correlated to college success. They still think in terms of 1600.

Dang....that's bad news for me... I got an 800 in the writing, but much lower in the math and reading (680 and 690 respectively)... I'm a junior though... Maybe in a year, they will look at it a bit more closely...
