WUSTL music supplement

For the WUSTL music supplement, who review these CD/DVD sent into the adcom office?

Also, if I do a 10 min music supplement, will that necessarily reduce the amount of time that the adcoms spend on the application?

Thanks.

If you have strong music skills submitting an arts supplement can differentiate you in a very positive way from other applicants. Washington University does not make it clear who reviews the supplement. Assuming that you submit a CD with samples of your work (which I strongly recommend) admissions is likely to ask for an opinion from someone in the performing arts/music department. If you only submit a resume, letter of recommendation from a music teacher, or a relevant essay then most likely only admissions would look at it. Best is to submit a full package: CD, music resume, and letter of recommendation from a music teacher who knows you well. Produce the best recording you can. While it does not need to be at a true professional level, it still needs to be very good technically.

There isn’t a “quota” of time allocated for each application. Realistically strong applications will always receive the most attention. Supplementary relevant material that does not duplicate information already provided through grades, recommendations, and essays can only help your application.

They’ll send it out to someone from the music department, who will send their feedback to the adcoms.
