Let me preface this by saying this is not my situation, but this happened to a friend of mine...

So my friend and I both attended a nearby community college this past school year before we head off to a four-year college this fall. This past semester my friend took only two classes with one of them being a British Lit online class held through the website Blackboard. Throughout this semester she was receiving mid 80s to high 90s on all papers, assignments and "class" participation, so, needless to say, she was extremely surprised to find that at the end of the class, her final grade was a C.

She emailed her professor a couple of days after the final grades were posted to see why on earth she received such a low grade but received absolutely no response. She emailed her twice more and then contacted english department faculty to see what was up after not hearing a word. Several "higher-up" faculty tried contacting this adjunct professor but even they couldn't reach her. Finally today, four weeks after receiving the grade and initial attempts at contact, the professor finally emailed back saying that she never received the final paper that was worth 20% of the grade which subsequently bumped her A-/B+ grade to a C. The thing is, she definitely did post the paper to her professor via Blackboard the day the paper was due. Apparently Blackboard acted up and it just didn't go through. This isn't unlikely as blackboard acted up pretty frequently when they had their online "classes". Not to mention, my friend even sent the professor an email after she posted the final paper saying she sent it. This was the first of the many emails the professor never responded to.

Is my friend just screwed though? The professor sent a short email back to her today saying she never received the paper even after keeping the assignment open a couple of days after and since the final grade was so long ago, everything has been locked in. Basically saying it sucks to be you. My friend is sort of at a loss of what to do now. I know it's just one C, but my friend is an excellent writer and this class was an absolute breeze for her and she deserves at least an A-. She's also thinking of applying to grad/law school and doesn't need a C on her final transcript for a class that she excels in.

Anyways, what would you do? Is there anything she can do? Or is she just going to get the C because the website program screwed up and her professor wouldn't answer emails?
