Yes, you can use a DVD converter (I think). Try using Digital Media Converter.

i tried that...didnt work.

Download the XVid codec? I don't see why VLC won't work..

Yeah, download the XVid codec, VLC plays everything as long as you have the codec.

this is what the title of the movie says (there are 52 "movies" each of 14.3 mb to compel one ~700 mb movie)

alliance-day.wo.mexican-xvid.003

i am thinking it might be a .bin file. i converted it to a .rar file but that didnt work. i did download the xvid codec but i didnt see a difference.

If it is split into that many parts its probably zipped. Unzip the first file and the rest will continue creating one file.

I need to convert a .dvd file to one of the following formats: .avi / .mpg / .mov ... any suggestions?

kchen, try AutoGK (http://www.autogk.me.uk/)
It converts to avi's using the xvid codec (arguably the best video codec)
I've never heard of a .dvd file though, so i'm not sure if it will work. If you want to rip a DVD to your computer, there's a guide on http://www.doom9.org/ that is really helpful.
