Yale 2021 Applicants

Got a mail from yale regarding global solidarity

Same. It’s nice to see people responding in such a positive manner.

My son said he’s received emails like that from many of the colleges where he applied, some where he didn’t apply (still sending deadline extensions), and also the college and department where he is doing dual enrollment.

Does anyone know when likely letters usually come out for Yale?

@MCurie I know some applicants received phone calls yesterday from the yale admission office regarding likely admission.

@DryMango … this college app process is taking a toll on all of us… so things happenening… lets hope for the best…

MODERATOR’S NOTE:

Agreed. Additionally discussions between 2 members should be conducted via PM, not held here. On top of that, it’s a waste of time to try to interpret every nuance that may or may not appear in a mass email. 9 posts deleted.

Thanks @Biotechgirl !

I think getting into an argument on cc is a waste of time and yet I do think the discussion is relevant as we move into the latter part of the college admissions process. As a parent of a mixed race kid I find myself going through my sons list and wondering not only it he will get in - but whether he will be safe at each of the schools on his list given the newly inspired hostile stance towards brown people. It does add additional nuance to the college process. In that context I was very grateful for the note Yale sent out. It definitely went up in my estimation as a safe place for my son. That doesn’t change the fact that it is a lotto school.

@WhatSally I, too, was reassured by the email that Yale will be a welcoming place for my daughter and was grateful she received it.

Did anybody’s application status portal page change? I only have three items there now: Common App, Fee Waiver, and Mid-Year Report.

My portal is still the same - application, fee, letters of rec, mid year, etc

Ah yeah, false alarm. After reloading the page a few times the normal checklist is back.

I have about a 3.7 GPA also. I’m kind of worried it will hurt me in the admissions process. Also, my rank is not good.

I have a 3.7 GPA. But I’m not double legacy…

I’m the one who created this group discussion? How is everyone doing? Does anybody think they have a good chance at getting in?

@ILoveStanford I don’t think anyone has a good chance, since their acceptance rates are so low, so I guess that’s a comforting thought? At this point I’ve stopped worrying about it since there’s nothing more I can do, and I suggest that you do the same. Focus on enjoying second semester and spending time with your friends instead.

Doing good @ILoveStanford ! How are you holding up?

I have not been contacted yet for an alumni interview. I live in one of the largest cities in the U.S, so location and amount of alumni volunteers available should not be an issue. My classmates who’ve also applied to Yale RD have already been contacted and have already done their alumni interviews.

I know the alumni interview report deadline is coming up. Should I contact admission and the alumni counsel about my situation? Yale is the only interview I’m waiting on.

@Georgia101 if it’s any consolation, i’m waiting for mine too. I requested UChicago, Duke, Harvard, and Yale interviews and have been contacted for none of them. So if anyone has any suggestions, I totally second that question.
