I was contacted for an interview last week and it was conducted yesterday afternoon. I also live in a fairly large city in the U.S. and the majority of my classmates had their interviews towards the beginning of January. With that being said, my interviewer noted that the deadline for conducting interviews is not until February 15th, and that their selection is based solely on availability in regards to volunteers. I would wait a few more days before panicking; but also keep in mind that they ask applicants not to request an alumni interview as the alum has to be the one that approaches you.
Any international who got a likey letter ?
Thanks @camara99 ! I actually just got my Harvard invite to interview, so I guess many of the colleges are still waiting things out- it seems like we just have to hang in there. Thanks again!
*still SENDING things out, excuse me.
@MCurie yes…got columbia interview today. So we need to hang on …
@ILoveStanford I hate waiting!! I think my chances of getting in are very small…but you never know!
Someone from my area got his likely letter (likely phone call to be exact) today. To my knowledge, he was not an athletic recruit.
I’m confused about the mention of phone calls about likely admission. Is this really happening? Wouldn’t they just wait until regular decision?
@SuzTwo Likely letters (or phone calls in this case) are usually sent out to make sure that the applicant they accepted doesn’t commit to another school since they’ll want to keep as much of the talent as possible.
@masquerade98 Thank you for the clarification. That makes sense!
Anyone from Canada got their interviews?
@melody99 Yes, I did (BC). We chatted for a good 3 hours (we planned for 1 hour). It was fun
Three hours wow…
Yea, @SuzTwo I received a likely letter via phone call on Wednesday, and then official letter the next day. I am by no means an athletic recruit. We talked for about an hour and he said the regional readers were calling the top 150 non-athletic applications that will receive likely letters, to stop us from committing anywhere else before March 30th.
@david_p was that this Wednesday, 2/8? Does that mean this process of regional readers contacting top students is still going on?
@njg00n he said they were contacting Wednesday (2/8) and Thursday (2/9) and that letters would be received this weekend.
Is there any way to make sure that Yale has all my financial aid documents? I don’t see a section for it on the portal.
Thanks!
Still waiting on a Yale interview request so I’m guessing I’m not getting one…seems so odd since all my classmates have and I live in a top ten largest city in the US. Definitely not a lack of Yale alumni volunteers here. I sincerely hope that this doesn’t affect my application. I’ve interviewed for all the other Ivies and schools I’ve applied too.
@TheSimpleThings 3 hours wow!! When did you have your interview? Do you know if they locate you based on your school address or your home address?
I’m in BC too but I live in Fort Langley…)
@david_p congratulations and good luck!
