Yale 2022 Applicants Discussion

Why would it work this early in the game? @rogerfedererfan1

@nicknick567 There is nothing wrong with what you did. Provided your 100 words on environmental studies were sound, that’s all that matters. I’m a prospective ecology student looking at the school of forestry’s 5-year master’s–hope we can meet!

@rogerfedererfan1 I GOT IN

To a 403 error page :slight_smile:

My interview was only 30 minutes. Is that bad?

@Janekinsella mine was only around 40 ish minutes - a bit on the short side as well. if the conversation flowed well, i would say not to worry about it!

Still no interview here. My parents received a letter from Yale Admissions a few days ago, stating that they are aware of my application (legacy) and included a fact sheet about how the legacy plays into the admission process. I am starting to believe that this is a precedent for a rejection letter. Has anyone else received this kind of letter?

@Janekinsella @iheartbagels I believe mine was on the short side as well (I did an on-campus interview, however) and lasted about 45 minutes.

@Cariar , that is a standard letter sent to all legacy applicant parents.

My interview was 2 hours… and then he talked with my dad for about 30 minutes. It was great! I keep pondering about December 14th at 5pm.

Mine went just about 40 minutes, but I think the conversation had a good flow.

My interview was a little over an hour. I am trying my hardest to keep my expectations/hopes low for December 14th

New SCEA applicant here. The Yale SCEA page is vague about the notification date saying mid-December. Where is it specifically listed that the notification will be 12/14 at 5 PM EST? It would seem that a Friday night 12/15 notification would be a better choice to give so many the weekend to adjust to disappointing news without having to face joyous classmates the next day.

@collegeboundsomewhere
When SCEA applicants log in to their applicant portal it shows 12/14.

@Volunteerism
Thanks. I thought I saw it somewhere too but didn’t recall where. I’m anxious to get an answer ASAP but still think 12/15 would have been the natural date to choose. Fingers crossed for all of us that day.

Hi guys. An article featuring me was recently published in CNN-- would you recommend that I send a link to it in as an update? (This question is especially geared towards @IxnayBob, @LoveTheBard and @BKSquared but I’m looking for other opinions as well!)

hey all, i just realized two things I forgot to do while i was looking through this thread.

  1. i forgot to submit a transcript from my summer program (it only has one grade on it). It's for credit, but idk if its a big deal? should i still make an effort to submit?
  2. i forgot to do the idoc thing for yale until now. Does that affect my admissions chances or do i only need it for finaid?

thanks for the info

Hey, so I recently decided to apply RD to Yale, but I’m worried that my SAT Subject Test scores are too low. On Math Level 2 I got a 700, and on Lit a 680. Should I send them? I know that Yale recommends them, which basically means it’s required, but would sending those low scores affect me that much? For comparison, on the actual SAT, I got a 1550 (800 Math 750 R&W), and my grades in all English and math classes have been A’s.

@dreamsofbrown, what was the article about and how much did it focus on you specifically? Does it give color to other parts of your app or is this just something random and has no other connection with other parts of your app?

@BKSquared Is it okay if I PM you?

I can’t believe I only have two weeks to go! I have made the mistake of checking previous scea threads and the results are agonizing-- seeing what the people with a little green “accepted” next to their name blows me away. Sorry for the upcoming pity party.

I am kinda pessimistic by nature, but the accomplishments of the cream of the crop will make these two weeks outright abysmal for me-- I’m scared I will get rejected straight from the early round. While there was never a high chance of me getting in and I know I will grow to love whatever school I end up in, everything about this process hurts and it will be hard to watch some of the others at my school don their sweatshirts with glee.

Yale is my impossible dream, and I get closer each day to waking up.

I’m in the same boat as a lot of you with all of the “So when is Yale going to accept you,” sort of things. I come from a school where nobody has EVER applied let alone attended Yale, so its a sorta new thing for everyone around me. A lot of people think that valedictorian=automatic full-ride to anywhere of my choosing. I wish lol :slight_smile: Best of luck to all with high school and the dreaded wait.
