After researching this entire “portal-gate” thing, I found that for the Class of 2020, Yale accidentally allowed admitted students to gain access to the admitted students page from the above link a few hours before decisions were released. However, Yale made sure that this did not happen for last year’s class, so I think we can be confident that it will not happen again this year. Let’s focus on supporting each other and not trying to read tea leaves.
I know it’s really hard not to read into everything right now but just take a deep breath, this means absolutely nothing, it’s just that no pages with results have been uploaded, everyone gets the error because no one has technically been “admitted”
Thanks guys one more day!!
Also I just logged in again and it was back to the page that says all ur info on it and that the decision comes out tomorrow, they were prob doing maintenance/uploading stuff
I hope we get an email tomorrow regarding the definite time decisions are released and the “instructions” to view them. I know (from watching acceptance reactions, whoops) that all you do is log into the portal and click on the status update to view it, but it would be comforting to get an email before decisions are released…maybe that’s just me
@cavsin7 what did it have on the page?
@tripledouble2000 Yeah it seems like some colleges do the email thing, at the same time or a little after the decision page is opened. Dunno if yale does it, and more specifically, no clue if yale does it for early
I guess now its time for me to float to the UPenn thread to see how that’s going for people
@tripledouble2000 The best thing that I’ve seen is a tweet from the Yale Admissions account saying that decisions will be available on our portals “tomorrow evening.”
I confirm @asdfdasfda about the tweet – I noticed it as well. I think that does mean 5pm EST (probably at the latest), because the Yale admissions office closes then. So they probably will finish sending out decisions right before their office closes (and is probably why the 5pm thing is flying around).
@DLithium the same that’s been on the portal since applying, ur info, whether or not they’ve received all ur documents and stuff, nothing new
No matter what happens tomorrow remember this:
You have worked hard to get here. You are an amazing, passionate, and accomplished person. This is not a judgement of your life. There are so many other awesome schools out there. Breath. You can do this.
The link does not indicate anything! I have talked to a number of my QB friends who were matched to Yale and all of them receive the 403 message about only admitted students. Chill out people…
Yeah, it was a class of 2020 thing. They ironed out all the bugs since then
Okay, so I don’t really care to talk about my decision on Friday, so thoughts about not checking until after school on Friday (hoping for self control)? Or should I just rip the bandage off?
One more day? More like ONNEEE DAYYY MOOOREEE
@ShadowSaber I’m just going to rip the bandage off, and regardless of if I get in or not I’m not telling anyone unless they ask me first. That way I won’t be bragging if I get in and I won’t be spouting my tale of woe at everyone if I don’t get in
@Tjuotunes I’ve been so sad recently, but think I can put on the countenance of enthusiasm for yet another day if I just wait a day. Also I really don’t want to have to smile at the other ea applicant at my school that I know of, since I believe their chances at getting in is hundreds of levels above mine.
@ShadowSaber I can relate so much to that…there’s 2 people applying from my school as well who are both ranked higher…but we’ll see what happens
My best friend wrote me a whole 300 word congratulatory Instagram post anticipating my acceptance… that’s the length of an entire supplement, for crying out loud! She won’t let me read it, but she even included a little reminder to herself to include blue heart emojis to match the Yale school colors. I don’t want to open it with my family, so I’m opening with her (and maybe her mom) via Facetime. She knows to be ready for a 4:45 call, so we have plenty of time to prepare emotionally
MODERATOR’NOTE;
Correct. Move on from discussing the link - it tells you nothing. you will not find out your decisions before the stated time, no matter how hard you poke around.
