@FrayFray I’m a deferred EA applicant. My guidance counselor today told me that deferred applicants sometimes have better chances in the RD pool (no idea if that’s true). But tbh, I feel like a lot of it at this point is up to chance.
@musicandscience Same for me. No one from my school’s 22-year history has ever been admitted to an elite university. It would be a dream come true, but with 35,000+ applicants for Yale, the odds aren’t looking too good
@FrayFray @cardust I was deferred too :(( Oh well, I turned in my update, did well first semester, it’s up to fate now. I’ve gotten into some good colleges (and I’m pretty certain that all of you have as well!) so let the cards fall where they may. We’ve done all we can, less than one week left now!
@musicandscience @MatthewW12 same! we just had our first big elite acceptance in a few decades with one girl that got into MIT a few days ago…I know I’m definitely not getting into any ivies, but hey, I’m the kind of person that always regrets not taking that shot no matter how small it may be, so
What is Yale-Nus? Apparently I applied but I never sent my scores lol. I just got my decision (obviously a rejection because no scores) So was that it? Do I not hear back from just Yale university on ivy day?
@anonymous_otter127 It’s Yale’s Singapore campus. At the end of Yale’s common app, you probably replied “yes” to the question if you wanted to send your application to Yale NUS. This sent your common app application to the Singapore campus, but you still had to go into that applicant portal, separate from Yale’s main campus one, and finish the application. You will still hear back from Yale on Ivy Day. They are completely separate campuses with completely separate applications.
@anonymous_otter127 Yale NUS is a joint partnership between Yale and the National University of Singapore and the campus is located in Singapore. On Common App there was a box you could check off stating whether or not you’d like to also apply to Yale NUS. Getting a rejection from Yale NUS is typical for most applicants given that Yale NUS admissions is actually more competitive than Yale and because most students dont fulfill the other requirements for Yale NUS (they have their own application, test scores, etc). Dont worry, you’ll still get your decision from Yale on March 28th
My rejection letter just came…
Seems like my ACT scores weren’t sent… damn
rejected from yale nus
Why’d i apply lmao
@TakeruR Oh wow I thought that they sent all the decisions at the same time. I’m so sorry that that happened to you, hopefully it works out at whatever other amazing school you end up in
@MaizeScream @MyDogsNameIsFat As said earlier in the thread, being rejected from Yale NUS does not preclude you from acceptance to yale… They’re different campuses
Everyone from my schools gets into an ivy, which is ridiculous. Last year, 2 people at Yale, 3 at Harvard, 5 at Cornell, 3 at Dartmouth, and 2 at Penn…
Other kids get into MIT, Stamford,Villanova, UMich, BU, etc.
I literally have no chance when they see what school school I’m from!
@greeneandh What is it like to go to a school with so many exceptional students?
Are the ones accepted by the Ivies geniuses, or do they just work really hard? Do they all have national awards in something?
My school has bad luck with every ivy but Yale. We typically send 8 kids to Yale each year. Crazy!
@MyDogsNameIsFat Thanks so much! I just got into USC today so I’m feeling a lot better now after the sudden rejection
@MatthewW12 Honestly, they i don’t know how they do it! they are all the preppy kids who play lacrosse, drink on weekends, and only wear yoga pants. There were a bunch of girls who didn’t know what an oxford comma is! I guess they just study a lot?
@greeneandh Really? That’s surprising.
@anonymous_otter127 What about the kids at your school? What are the yale admits like?
My school focuses a lot on sports so we don’t have a good track record for sending kids to Ivy Leagues. In fact, I can’t even think of any non-athletes who have been accepted! There is already a football player going to Yale from my year so even though I know we’re supposed to be considered separately it still kinda feels like my chances are shot
@MatthewW12 normal kids. They take a range of students from artsy to athletic. Yale just really likes my school (inner city public school). I think 4 kids already got in for early action.
I’m deferred too! Three students at my school got in EA (large public school). Just gotta hope the stars align in our favor!!
