Ppl I thought I was gonna handle this like a pro but no I’m not sleeping. I’m not even close to falling asleep.
I am so surprised by Harvard results… So many people who seemed really impressive on the thread got deferred, which for us (the Yale thread) is almost a helpful thing to see so we all re-adjust our expectations even lower since, as others have said, it seems like the competition is super steep for EA (and in general) this year. I don’t want to see my decision and have to finally let go that tiny sliver of “what if” hope tomorrow, but at the same time, I just really want to know. I hope to see some familiar people from this thread getting accepted!

An unprecedentedly high percentage of female admits indicated they are interested in studying computer science or the physical sciences this year, Fitzsimmons said. Of those interested in the physical sciences, 53 percent were women, compared to 33 percent last year. The proportion of those interested in Computer Science who are women rose to 43 percent from 29 percent in 2017.
“The gender shift is quite dramatic,” Fitzsimmons said. “I haven’t seen anything like that before.”
One of the new tactics to use deficits of various groups to up the odds. Women is CS/Stem is a very big strategic angle.

@benanderson1001 I’m chinese and this TEDx talk is super relatable lol. Thank you so much for sharing it, it did make me feel better. I feel like a lot of the time we know college admission is just as random as it is, but it’s hard to not take it personally. 
sometimes we just need someone else to say it to us to make it more convincing.

@crazyforhorses getting yourself prepared to be rejected is always a nice mentality I think… it sounds pessimistic but it does make the seemingly result a lot more acceptable. Since the moment I turned in my application I’ve been telling myself over and over again, how a rejection letter doesn’t define me, how I have no regrets and I was happy throughout my HS and that’s what’s important balabala. And it did make it a lot better (although apparently I can’t fall asleep tonight). I recorded a little thingy for myself, if I get rejected I’ll listen to it, cuz I feel like although my friends will definitely be there for me and be my rock, self-help is still the most efficient lol.
@yungturd @amieaa I saw a performance at Brown from their Koop cover group, it was a dance cover for Idol lol. I’m super happy to see k-pop Stans under this thread too! This just shows how this applicant pool is full of diverse and unique applicants from all over the world!!! No matter what the result is I’m glad I get to talk to y’all and go through this together.
@anxiousglowgirl lol I mean I’m losing sleep myself so. I’ve been on this thread for the entire day and couldn’t hear a word in my chem class haha. It be like that sometimes, but at the end of tomorrow, I believe no matter what the result is, the stress will all go away and we will be ready to move on to the next phase! Consider the anxiety another form of excitement! You are excited to know the result and you are excited to take a step forward in your college application! There’s nothing to worry about really, you’ve done the absolute best you could have and now it’s Yale’s turn to read your awesome application!

I seriously can’t sleep. I was just trying to study for my physics c test tomorrow in hopes of tiring myself out but to no avail. 15 hours and less than 15 minutes. I think this is going to be the longest day of my life

We totally got this. 11.5 hours to go and we’ll all have an answer, one way or the other. All the best to all my fellow Yale hopefuls, and never forget that Yale isn’t the end of the road. 
@skiwispooby thank you so much for your kind words!!! only 8 hours left now thankfully and hopefully I’ll never feel this anxious again I’m going to try spend the day cleaning my room and doing things I enjoy to pass the time! 5PM ET is 10PM my time so I have to get through the whole day hsjdkdk

do u guys know whether people have contacted admission officers after getting rejected and asked them for an honest opinion about their application? lol thats how sure i am that im gettin rejected
i already cant focus in classes… should have just stayed home tbh. i cant wait for 5 ahh
