They won’t tell you anyway. You’ll get the standard “So many qualified applicants for so few spaces.”
Can’t imagine they would with all of the applications they process and are still processing for RD.
Just woke up from a 15 hours sleep. Time does not pass…
i’m weirdly excited, whatever happens is okay
:o3 so scared :-<
@physicslover56 OMg me too! I woke up this morning and had intense diarrhea >:/ but I’m feeling better now! Only threw up once since 10 am, feeling vivacious! :-c
@surferboy777 so relatable!! best of luck to you on your journey to success!! let me know when the issues subside…
Guys but it’s actually so bad I keep on going through cycles of creeping hope that I will get in and realizing that I have no chance AT ALL I’m gonna get in
Anyone else with that feeling in their stomach today (not the diarrhea, that went away this morning)?
@surferboy777 I feel EXACTLY how you feel
@WhosYourMommy India? Because same. I feel your pain, man. :)) I’ve decided to go to bed as usual and set an alarm for 3:20 because if I stayed up all night I’d be a pile of nerves by the time 3:30 came around… help
I am freaking out a lot. Only 2 kids from my school have gotten into the 7 Ivies that have released ED so far this week… out of many many qualified applicants in my class… a boy literally told me “all eyes are on you now” last night. Oh man
Here from the Princeton SCEA Thread. Good luck to you all! I was deferred, but I did some calculations and maybe this will help you feel better if you aren’t accepted:
Colleges need to have a well-balanced, diverse student body. I believe that for many applicants whose applications may have been truly exceptional and worthy of admission, the limited spaces available did not allow for them to be admitted in the early round.
- This is for Princeton SCEA 2023 - For example here is what happens if you are a white male: (Note: this is assuming that the ratios of diversity along with gender are equal)
For 743 Accepted:
50% Ethnic + 10% International = 60% of admitted students:
→ (743)(0.40) = ~297 spots left
51% Female:
→ (297)(0.49) = ~146 spots left
- these statistics do not include recruited athletes or legacies
This means there are only 146 available spots for a white male to be accepted. These 146 spots include recruited athletes and legacies, which makes the percentage chance to get in much, much lower. And when the majority of past classes are white, the 17% of accepted students (who are legacies) is most likely comprised of predominantly white students.
This makes me feel a little less hurt with my deferral and hopefully it will help you as well if you get deferred.
Good luck guys!
Came to the same conclusion for my D who got deferred at Brown. There was not a lot of room there!
Im losing my mind here
I am kind of new here…but wouldn’t 50% ethnic also include international students, legacy, & athletes. I just don’t want anyone to feel hopeless looking at the states. 90% of kids applying are extremely smart, talented, and awesome. These days you need the “ Holy crap! wow factor.”
a little over 5 hours left on the clock that’s enough time to listen to all i want for christmas is you about 100 times… yeehaw
@momofusna The article that Princeton released stated that 50% of the admitted students were “domestic students of color” and that 10% were international. So, 60% total.
@momofusna But yes, there are still athletes and legacies in that 60%. Since past classes have been predominantly white (even this year was 50%), then the likelihood of a legacy being white is much greater.
4 and a half hours to go…
