Yale Arts Supplement

Hello, I am applying to Yale Early Action and I am wondering if I should submit an art portfolio. I have won several art competitions, but I’m not sure if I have a unique/diverse enough portfolio. I specialize in digital art and watercolor and don’t have a lot of still-lifes, figure drawings, etc. I put international/national art awards on my honors, so I feel as if I should submit an art supplement. There isn’t a lot of room in the Yale art supplement, only 8 pieces. I feel confident in my digital pieces, but does submitting a portfolio that size make it permissible to just submit your strongest pieces, and you can sacrifice well-rounded-ness? I’m also hesitating because I asked a research mentor to write a supplemental recommendation and Yale suggests that you submit the research paper they worked with you on. It was a highly advanced research paper and I think both are strong aspects of my application, but I have been doing art for longer, and I think I should only submit one or the other. What would you suggest? By the way, I’m a Chinese student so I am considering the possibility of getting stereotyped for doing STEM activities.
