Yale Class 2025 Waitlist

Hi,

Lets discuss about yale waitlist here

Does anyone have any idea about the number of kids that get off Yale’s waitlist? I don’t think they publish those stats on CDS but if anyone knows about the trends in the last few years based on stuff said on CC or Reddit…?

20-50 in an average year. More last year due to so many taking a gap year. Speculation is that it will be less than in an average year this year, but who knows?

Unless the anticipated yield is way off, I would suspect there would be very limited use of the waitlist. No one will know anything until after 5/3.

Also wondering (realistically) how late can a waitlisted applicant be accepted a seat ?

How many are on Yale’s current waitlist? How soon could be the earliest a “WLer” could be notified of acceptance ?

This information was published: Yale also offered a spot on the waiting list to 1,030 applicants this year…

It’s theoretically possible someone could be taken off at any time if declines came in already, but realistically there would not be an evaluation until after all decisions are due on 5/3. The chances of waitlist this year are likely small, since the class size may already be larger than normal.

Normally this all wraps up in June – last year was different due to changes to the 2020-2021 on-campus plans, which weren’t finalized until late summer.

Does (would) Yale pull from WL in categories of education ? If an ROTC acceptee withdraws his/her spot, for an alt school or gap year, would Yale pull from the same WL designation. Same for music, or the other arts? Or would it be next “in line” to be offered a seat ?

It’s definitely more of a replacement to maintain the same makeup of the class in terms of a variety of factors. However, just because you know someone who is going to decline (that you think is similar to you) does not mean that they will go to the waitlist at all. There are already declines expected with the anticipated yield.

Thanks

Hopefully WLers will receive calls as early as May 3rd.

They will have a fairly good handle on things as of 5/3. There is always a chance, but please make peace with other options if it doesn’t work out. It is unlikely the waitlist would be utilized unless the yield is significantly lower (which also seems unlikely).

I appreciate the sentiment and advice. Truly do!

Plan B is in motion, with an eye on Y.

My question of the day is … Would Yale pull from WL for a specific student criteria (example… ROTC) if a slot was vacated, or not full to their yield expectation??

Anybody know, or have heard any information on Y’s WL ??? May 3rd has come and gone, and curious how long before notifications are sent out ?

They have all the acceptances now. They know the class makeup and numbers from newly admitted students and prior admits on a gap year. The class is already larger than normal. My sense is that if they are going to the waitlist it would be very, very specific to rounding out that class makeup. It is impossible to know what that is or how many (if any) that might be.

Gotcha ! Hopefully sooner than later for so many WLers…

WL Limbo !!

Anybody has any stats like how many are admitted, whats the yield rate, any chance for the Wait-listers

With current and prior cycle acceptances, the incoming class is already several hundred students larger than normal. Might they take a select few from the waitlist? No one knows, but they are not under-enrolled by a long shot.

Just got an update. A formal rejection.

Just got a rejection email. Their class size is full and not taking anyone from WL

Sorry to hear that.
