Yale Class of 2017 SCEA Discussion thread

[HARDEST PUSHUP IN THE WORLD - YouTube](<a href=“HARDEST PUSHUP IN THE WORLD - YouTube”>HARDEST PUSHUP IN THE WORLD - YouTube)

Philo, did you say you had free time? ^^

Red, I’m pretty sure that’s physically impossible haha. I can do like 75 normal push-ups straight, and I can’t even come CLOSE to that. Good luck Philo :stuck_out_tongue:

I have to say, submitting other apps makes this process, and the reality of rejection/deferral, seem much more real…

BTW Philo I pmed you for Crit mass.

Good luck to all!

If I made a graph of my confidence level since I submitted my app, it would just be a mess of high and low spikes. I feel pretty different about it every day, haha. I want decisions already, gosh!!

Haha, JordanSaidWhat, me too! I kind of got it out of my mind until I got contacted for an interview, and ever since then, it’s been at the forefront of every single thought I have.

I was never contacted for an interview, and have essentially accepted the hopeful fact that Yale’s Alumni Committee doesn’t have anyone in my region. Rural Southeast New Mexico isn’t exactly the most, err, popular of places.

Question: Has anyone else applied anywhere RD? If we get accepted to Yale SCEA, how do we withdraw other applications already submitted?

Ugh. I don’t think my chancing thing works accurately for internationals. And finding critical mass is a lot of work.

I’ll work on that. Soon I’ll have an equation to determine if a person is applying to enough or too many schools. Muahaha.

Ahh IB kids reppin’.

@beyondinfiniti Mine shows that too. As to my knowledge, the Mid-Year Report is to be delivered after the completion of the first semester, or equivalent number of quarters or trimesters. I don’t think it should have a check for SCEA applicants.

@retro did you mean IB kid RIP-ing? XP

Cute. “Peace” though? I doubt I’ll find it if I succumb pre-mocks.

@JordanSaidWhat Since it’s early action and non-binding, we wouldn’t have to withdraw any applications we’ve already submitted. It doesn’t hurt to have some regular decision apps out there in case you want to keep your options open for other schools besides Yale.

I met my admissions officer. She also sent me an email after I submitted my app asking for my last letter of recommendation (I live in a hurricane affected area so one recommendation was late). Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
And yeah I didn’t get the chance to apply for FA (same reasons), so I’m keeping my options open by applying to a few other schools too, even if I get into Yale.

@JordanSaidWhat I’m holding off on submitting RD apps until I receive my Yale decision for that purpose. If accepted to Yale, I’d only send in a couple apps.

@redboldx - i’m from toronto!

@philo - hope you can work out the kinks! it’d be cool to have some kind of way to predict semi-accurately

Question: How can I check my application status on the Eli account?

Aaaaaah. And I thought I was home free.

The alumni who would interview me whom the head of the Yale Schools Committee in Central South Carolina told me about a few weeks ago had never responded to my emails, so I thought I would never get an interview.

But now the head has emailed me again and offered to interview me in her place. This Thursday afternoon! What a drag.

Okay, so maybe I’m a little excited. But I’m not at all prepared.

ummm you should be thankful for the notice you have. I found out about my interview today, and it’s in two hours. The thing is though, you really don’t need to prepare for anything. You should be able to naturally talk about all your interests and activities right?

Oh, I’m not really concerned about that. He could’ve dropped by my school during lunch and I’d be fine.

More or less. ^^

I’d rather not have an interview, though…
