Yale Class of 2018 SCEA Discussion thread

So we have to pay for all act score reports? They really should have a section to report all scores on the supplement…Is anyone just putting it in the additional information section?

Also, how are we supposed to middle-align the title of the common app essay? Did anyone else use italics? The phrase that was italicized had larger font in the pdf preview for me.

How late will the admissions office take a LOR? I’m getting an additional one from my science professor mentor but he’s been quite busy lately. Will they take it a little later than the deadline, like 1-2 weeks later?

Final decisions are made 1st week of December. Mid Nov runs the risk of your file already having gone through its initial reads. Send it in – but it might not help. Fax it for quicker transmittal.

SpoolMan 7:13 pm - Yes, all ACT and/or SAT I and II test scores have to be reported directly by ACT/SAT to Yale. Self reporting is not sufficient.

AP scores are self-reported but will need to be sent after admission to count for placement - only 5’s are qualifying scores btw.

We have to title our common app essay?

I didn’t–I feel it’s pretentious :)

ericmet: you’re all over the place. In one post you say you applied Harvard SCEA. Are you saying you applied Yale SCEA as well?

I figured if I began to ■■■■■ Harvard (surreptitiously of course), the karma would cause the stars to align for me getting into Yale.

On the awards section, I’m contemplating between two awards: National AP Scholar and a local magazine feature (for the top student in the county). I only have one spot left, so which one should I put? I know that National AP is probably a bigger award, but I feel like a lot of people will already have that, and the local magazine feature might make me stand out more within my region. What do you guys think?

Wouldn’t National AP scholar be obvious from your AP scores? Put the magazine feature.

you should rethink that policy eric. Having an honest forum history is worth its weight in gold here. If you lie or fool around, people ignore you – like how you said you had a 2.7 GPA and was applying to SCEA Harvard. Don’t be a t ool on the site and you’ll get help. Be one and you won’t.

I know someone already asked, but I don’t think they got answered… How quickly did everyone receive their eli account details? I applied about 10 days ago and haven’t got the email. And I’ve checked my spam box. Thank you :)

What if I were trolling Harvard to ■■■■■ Yale to get into Harvard? Trollception…

Does the CSS profile need to be submitted before Nov 1 for early action?

T26E4 gave you excellent advice about the importance of credibility on this forum. In addition, misrepresentation of any kind is a violation of CCs Terms of Service, and may result in an infraction, timeout from posting or permanent banning from this site.

What are you guys putting under the additional information section?

How does one know what is misrepresented unless one admits it?

It’s called your posting history. Try me, I have lots of experience ;).

What if someone talks about one facet of his or her history and not the other? Or one’s history changes (e.g. retakes SAT, GPA goes down)?
