Yale Class of 2018 SCEA Discussion thread

I submitted 2 research abstract things as my supplements along with an additional rec. I also am a bio major  woop!

Does it help to submit abstracts? O_o
I only provided an additional rec. I thought you were supposed to send an abstract or paper only when your research is nationally ranked in competitions; otherwise, the adm office would get a lukewarm or negative response from the corresponding science departments, who look at your research.

Hmmmā€¦ well I have presented one of my research projects at a conference and another was done at a prestigious hospital during an internshipā€¦so hopefully it should be okay for me? :O

ahhh now iā€™m worried

@awesomenerd - Iā€™m sure youā€™ll be fine. They might not take it into consideration as much, but hey at least it proves you did the research.

@Marioandluigi and @awesomenerd I have a research abstract but it has not won any competitions or been published. I decided not to submit one and had my research mentor write a recommendation letter with details about my participation in his lab and about my project in general. Awesomenerd, I think you are fine. It sounds like your research abstract would be pretty good if you presented at a conference.

Tip to destress:
I am listening to podcasts/youtube videos while playing tetris. Something about tetris just makes everything less stressful

Less than 55 hours to goā€¦

Hey guys, I know the decision comes out at 3-5pm EST on the 16th, but how can we access it?

I canā€™t find the login link to my Eli Account on the website, and Iā€™m panicking!

Alternatively, do they usually send emails?

Hereā€™s the linkā€¦

Good Luck

WUt why do you guys think itā€™s 3-5pm EST on Monday?!?!?
I assumed it was 5pm EST!!! wuut

Donā€™t acceptances get sent out later than rejections/deferrals?

It has been 5pm EST in the past, and Yale is referring to it as Monday evening. I would consider 5pm as the end of the business day and the start of evening. But my D plans to start checking it from 3pm onā€¦ just in case.

Will we be able to log into that registration website Monday morning if weā€™re in? Perhaps thatā€™s a way to find out a bit earlyā€¦

Stop trying to get around it. Just sit back and see what happens.

LOLā€¦ I would agree. Yale is clever enough to keep everything under-wraps until they want the results knownā€¦

Iā€™m a little confused right now. For schools like stanford, I know they send you an email telling whether you got accepted, deferred, etc. But for schools like yale, I thought you just checked the account. So why are people talking about getting emails from yale?

Yale will likely eventually send emails to everyone as wellā€¦ but sending nearly 5K personalized emails takes time. Most people I believe first learn by logging on directlyā€¦

I heard Harvardā€™s rejections and deferrals were up before their acceptances this year. Does anyone know if Yale is similar?

Also, will the email from Yale say our decision, or just tell us that itā€™s on the website?

Am I the only person who gets ticked off when someone posts all of their college acceptances on FB? I mean, itā€™s okay to post your final decision or matriculation but why would you post the results of all 12 schools youā€™re applying toā€¦
