@johnnyisgod All things being equal, yes to both your questions
With all this talk of hooks, I think it’s also important to emphasize that Yale would not accept any applicant who is not academically qualified, even if they have a hook like legacy or URM.
@16elir, not to get political, but that’s true after GWB, not before. But it’s true, you won’t find a tragically unqualified student at Yale, even if he can really throw a football, which can’t be said for all universities.
Agreed. I was thinking more in terms of legacy or URM. They probably make the most exceptions for recruited athlete and celebrities (like Malala or Malia).
Yup. They’ll make exceptions mostly for celebrities and daughters/sons of famous people and politicians who have connections. Rather unfortunate for us regular applicants
I can’t believe the first admissions decisions are going out today.
November has passed by so quickly.
I know! The next two weeks are going to be agony.
Agreed. I’ll be biting my fingers until December 15th
Deep breaths. Lots of deep breaths.
Moments of elation followed quickly by panic.
Aaaaand deep breaths…
So my DS was just notified for an interview today. Is this enough time for SCEA consideration?
@racketnet As far as I’m concerned the interview reports for SCEA consideration were due on December 1st. So no, probably not.
@racketnet, DS should do his best and assume that it is enough time for SCEA consideration. Good luck!
I believe SCEA reports were due today, so if he is deferred it will be reviewed with his application then. At least, that’s my understanding.
@racketnet I think that since he was only notified today, it shouldn’t hurt him. I mean, it’s not his fault. I’ve heard that the admissions team continues to debate on candidates up until the weekend prior to the decision day. The interview will likely be considered.
why aren’t the results released the same day as harvard?
Early decisions don’t have to be announced on the same day, like RD does. Ivy schools do all announce by December 15th, but since students can only apply to one (thus, schools aren’t in competition for these students) they can announce early if they wish.
Unfortunately, Yale decides to make us wait until the 15th.
When do Harvard applicants get their decisions?
The last couple years it’s been the Thursday before the 15th. Not sure about this year.
I heard Yale is renovating and creating more colleges or whatever. Will this effect our class and if so, how?
@6alibah - I read somewhere that that changes admissions for class of 2017, but not us.
