lol, @ShawnLooch , “graph of 1/x”!!! :))
It cannot be healthy for my heartrate to be constantly elevated like this.
I wish I could just sleep for the next 7 days, but alas, real life calls.
My consolation is that if I have to go through this all over again in March, I have the two weeks before decisions off work, so I actually can sleep/entertain my way through them.
@strideforward , thank you for your kind words!!! I wish you were the admissions rep :)) !!
I Hope you get in as well!!! Congrats on your Harvard interview (Hope you get in there as well!) To be honest, I can connect with you. I didn’t feel like I said all that what I wanted to, but I am sure that interviewers are aware of that and that they can see your passion hiding underneath the nervousness. After all, they have done it a million times!!!
So don’t worry!!!
Good luck to you too!!!
@16elir , I don’t know your music taste, so here goes:
Got in: Club can’t handle me, Happy, #thaPower, Scream and Shout, Walk like a champion, We are a champion, cant be tamed, party rock anthem
Deferred/waitlisted: Anything could happen (Ellie Goulding),
Rejected: Confident (demi), Diamond (rihanna), skyfall (Adele), Lean on (Major Laser), fly (Niki Minaj)
I’m having a major crisis -
My SAT II scores never got officially reported! I reported them on the common app but evidently the Internet connection failed to go through when sending through College Board. Will this completely sink me? (I have not taken the SAT I - just the two subject tests and ACT w/ Writing).
Yale doesn’t even require the SAT 2’s!! To be honest, I didn’t send in my Sat 2’s cause I haven’t taken them!!! So this will not sink you!! SAT 2’s are worth just as much as the interviews are worth ( I asked them myself cause if the subject tests did play a major role, I wouldn’t have ever applied to Yale without them- But I did!!) Don’t worry!! You are perfectly fine, on Yale’s website there is a comment on this saying something along the lines of “our most successful students only send in the REQUIRED materials, and not the supplementary”. Plus, since it’s not required, they might not even look at it. There is another line somewhere that says “We cannot guarantee that we will look through the supplementary materials”
Again, don’t worry- your application was already perfect without
Plus, you reported them on the common App!! You will be 99.9% fine!!! Deep Breaths!
@ShawnLooch , since this was not yours, but a technical malfunction- you can try to call them tomorrow morning and see if they would still be willing to accept it! But chances are, that they have already viewed your app. But it’s worth a shot. I am pretty positive that they will take in consideration of the score you reported online on the common app!!
also @ShawnLooch ,my above comments might seem sarcastic to you. I just want to let you know that I truly mean what I have said, and that you are fine without them. I am trying to ease out the situation, because the same thing happened to me when I applied for an in state school. I didn’t turn in my Sat reasoning on time due to slow internet, and when I called the admission office- they said that I would simply get deferred if the scores didn’t make it on time as they were a required element. I can understand the anxiety you are going through, but I just want to let you know that it will turn out all right! It did with me! My scores made it the last minute! So please, do not stress out too much over this! There are so many other applicants (like myself) who haven’t even taken subject tests!
Yale will trust your common app scores! And they will be as holistic as possible. They look for reasons to take someone, not reject them. So they will take in account that you have reported the scores. Aside from that, if you have good scores and a good application- then you have nothing to worry about at all!!
Hope this makes sense and makes you feel a little at ease!
what did you guys write about?
The longer I stare at the app I submitted, the more unremarkable it seems
@glasshours I understand! Every so often I feel the urge to re-read my application and compare my stats to those of the accepted applicants on previous years’ threads. Whenever I feel inadequate, I try to remember the sense of accomplishment I felt when I finally completed the application on Nov. 1st! Your application contains four years of hard work, heartfelt essays, and your mentor’s positive opinions! It will convey many things about you to the admissions officer, but unremarkable is not one of them! I know right now you feel like your future depends on the decision you receive in 7 days, but no matter what happens, you have much to be proud of in your high school career!
@zeppelins For my Common App I believe I did prompt number one and discussed the many tribulations and compromises my family and I have had in regards to my love of literature and decision to major in English. I think this was definitely my favorite essay out of all the ones I’ve written in the whole college application process.
My supplement was a little meh for sure, but it was about how the piano, although a cold and mechanical thing in nature, was what ultimately taught me how to think with my heart now and then, and not just my mind. It ended up a little cliche but what can ya do at this point? Oh well
What’d you write about?
I haven’t looked at my application since i sent it in… Too worried about how I’d feel about it.
@Shoumei That’s probably a wise choice! I have since found 2 grammar mistakes
edit: I mean they are correct but another form would have worked better.
@Shoumei Good strategy considering I made the terrible choice of glancing over my essays the other day and found a typo. I mean, I know that’s an incredibly minor thing in the long run, but that missing r really killed my soul.
@Xboxgamergirl You’re always making everyone feel so much better! Props to you!!
The decision we get in a week from now definitely does NOT decide our future, and I sure do hope that all of us here get into our other top schools if we don’t get into Yale (hopefully we will).
I have to say, you guys on this CC thread are an incredible group of students that are going to be incredibly successful. Connecting with you guys for the future will be really beneficial (I’m talking, if one of you become president, you should make me surgeon general). Let’s try to find a way to stay in touch after this whole journey is over so that we can develop friendships into the future!
Countdown: http://■■■■■■■■■■/#yaletime_hpehr
might be a little late, but @16elir
Got in: All I do is win
@letmethink I love you for making the countdown!!! Watching the numbers go down is both exciting and terrifying at the same time!
