Yale, Harvard, or Stanford?

Of the three schools, which has the best psychology program? I am just going to major in general psychology with an emphasis on behavioral neuroscience, anf then move onto grad with the same emphasis. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Trixee.

While I am not sure how Harvard compares to the other 2 in that specific department, I know you can pursue an honours degree in "Psychology and Neuroscience" at Harvard.

You might be interested in that.
See the Undergraduate Handbook for more details:

Yale has a big neuroscience department, too. That's where I plan to go. And you can't go wrong with Stanford in any science/humanities (it's horrible for music, though). For these top three, we usually don't have leeway to choose; they choose where we go for us :)

^

dang, tkm, you're accepted already?

No, I haven't. Maybe I should have said "hope" instead of "plan." It's one of my many, many plans, in a big huge plan tree full of branches :)

Well, Zimbardo's at Stanford, and he's awesome.

Many pivotal psychological studies and experiments took place at both Yale and Stanford. I don't know as much about harvard, but I'm sure it's still noteworthy as well.

Sternberg's at Yale, and he has a great research team. He's the author of a pretty good undergraduate textbook too. If I could go to graduate school anywhere (that is, if I could drop all of my current responsibilities), Sternberg is the professor with whom I would most like to pursue a Ph.D.

Stanford's psychology department has been the consensus #1 program for decades now.

yale and stanford have the top psych grad departments, harvard isnt known for their psych grad program, if that is any perspective...

According to the NRC rankings, which are the definitive rankings of
academic departments, all 3 have excellent programs, all are ranked in the top 10:

1 Stanford, #3 Yale, #6 Harvard

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT take small differences in rankings as being significant... they are not... pretty much all programs in the top 15 are equally good.

For the record:

2 Michigan

4 UCLA

5 Illinois

7 Minnesota

8 U Penn

9 Berkeley

10 UCSD

11 Carnegie Mellon

12 U Washington

13 Princeton

14 Cornell

15 Wisconsin

Lots of great public universities with top programs!

At Stanford, you could also pursue a more rigorous program and major in Biology with an emphasis in neuroscience. Might be a good combination with a more general psychology degree.
