Yale just gave me financial aid

We finally got in our most recent tax returns (we met late with our accountant). They reviewed my fin-aid app, where they had previously given me no aid, and instead gave me a lot. I mean, wow. Really a lot. Like, combined with my other scholarships I get free tuition now. I'm very, very happy right about now. Wow.

Anyway, this does mean I now really need to find good student employment. Does anyone have advice on what a good work-study opportunity might be? The job listings currently available from Yale seem to be mostly for summer employment right now. I'm a very good violist, could get good at violin again, have tutoring experience in my school (in academics and music), have held paying jobs teaching chess at high schools (not my own school. I'm not that good at chess, by the way, but I was working with beginners). Aside from that stuff, I'm the standard high schooler with the usual computer abilities and good typing speed (100 wpm).

Thanks.

There are TONS of student employment opportunities. From the mundane to some pretty involved jobs. I worked 3 years at the Management School administration offices.

Students take the full range of jobs – just be early so you can choose. I know no one who wanted a job who couldn’t find one. Minimum student wage is a whopping $10.50/hour. The best paid jobs are with the Dining services.

Congrats on the nice FA package. Just remember Yale in later years – give back what you can to make it possible for other Bigstans to have the Yale opportunities.

^ I think it’s been raised to $11. 50 which is very amazing considering the CT minimum wage is somewhere between $8 and $8.50.

The best job that I heard of basically entailed doing research and getting paid to do it.
