If you have already matriculated, your Yale NetID may be ready. You may have received an email from the dean's office with instructions; if not, it is still worth a try. To activate it, go to https://veritas.its.yale.edu/netid/ActivatePreLogin_Prepare.do and select "undergraduate." Use your Eli account to log in, and your NetID will be activated. As far as I can tell, the housing form is not available at this time, and admitted students cannot yet access their emails or course evaluations; however, other services requiring a NetID are available.

I am now able to log into my email at mail.yale.edu.

Thanks for the heads up. I activated the NetID after I got the email from the Dean’s office, but I’m unable to access my email. Every time I log in, I get a notice that my login has expired. I am able to log in to other Yale websites, like portal.yale.edu or the classes server, but not to email. I can even get onto the address book, but if I click “Mail” I get booted out.

When I do log on at portal.yale.edu, most functions work, but the “My Recent Email” widget doesn’t load: “This channel failed to accept needed data” or “This channel failed to render”

Any ideas?

Try logging in to the email service itself: https://www.mail.yale.edu/login.php

ahhh. Thanks so much for this! I still haven’t gotten the e-mail from the Dean, but my email address is up and running!

Thanks, I’ve tried logging in directly to email – it just tells me immediately that my CAS session has expired. Actually, I just tried sending my Yale email address an email, and it failed (550: Host not found). Maybe I’ll just send IT an email later this week.

There are different versions of the webmail as far as I can tell. You have to select the correct one. The link above will get you there, but you can try going through the Portal.
