Yale NUS Class of 2020

@College98761 SEND THOSE IN! To yale nus through college board immediately.

and is Yale NUS only a liberal arts college? With no courses in engineering?

@College98761 Yes. While there is no engineering major, there are a few STEM related Majors such as Math/Statistics, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences. However, the focus is not on the pre-professional type of training you would get if you entered as an engineering major in other colleges, but on a well rounded education.
You take common core classes for the first few years with 1-3 electives, where you can choose classes related to your major. You only declare you major after the second year. Full list of majors and information about the common curriculum is here:

Hello.

Does anyone know the lowest SAT of anyone accepted at Yale-NUS? What is a competitive SAT score? Is over 2000 okay?

Hey :slight_smile:
I have currently applied for yale-nus college on the 11th of January. I would like to know when the shortlisted applicants will be notified ?

@zduo131 While I do not know the lowest SAT for anyone accepted at Y-NUS, I can certainly tell you that just over 2000 will not be okay. I believe that a lot of competitive applicants apply to Y-NUS through the Yale application and along with that, quite a lot of Singapore citizens are crazy smart. I feel that a 2150 - 2200+ should be a competitive score. That being said, I don’t think that a slightly lower score would directly disqualify anyone

Hey is anyone here applying to NUS as well? Does anyone know how competitive it is to get in to NUS with american high school diploma?

@Lucky008
Did you hear anything back from YNC?

@zduo131
I haven’t heard from YNC. What about you ?

@Lucky008
Not yet! :frowning:
Do you know how long they typically take for second round offers? They said 2-4 weeks…

Do we get notified via email or portal?

@zduo131
We will get notified through both the email and portal :slight_smile: I really do not know how long they will take

I got an interview call from YaleNUS today. Did anyone else get it?

@lordjonsnow I’m jealous. I haven’t heard anything about my app status. What date did you apply?

@lordjonsnow Congrats :slight_smile:

Has anyone else heard from YNC ?

Do all the interviews come out at once? Also, does everybody who get an interview get in? I havent got one yet, and neither have other highly qualified friends. But a few friends with relatively weaker stats got notified about an interview yesterday

@isabelringing I applied on 15th January. Applied from the YNC website, not CommonApp.
Did anyone else get one?

@lordjonsnow Did you get an email too? Where are you from?
I applied through the YNC app too, on 12th January.

@anotherdude Not everybody who gets an interview gets in - they accept about 1/3rd of the interviewed applicants. The interview is a shortlist, so if you don’t get invited for interview its pretty much a guarantee that you’re not getting in.

@stopdroppop I got an email, yes.
I am from Pakistan.
They also asked me to fill out financial aid form which is available only to shortlisted applicants.

@stopdroppop yeah, I understand that the odds of getting in without an interview are infinitesimally small. I’m wondering whether all the interview requests are handed out or will they still be sending invites?

hey, I got an interview invite from YNC day before yesterday. They told me to go to my application portal and register for the Skype Interview, however, when I check my application portal there is nothing regarding the interviews. :frowning: Please help
