@stopdroppop thats not true. In the past, applicants without an interview have still gotten in. So chances are still there.
@Milu99 its probably not uploaded to the portal yet. Give it a day or so and email the admissions officer.
do they just email you for an interview? in the US
@stopdroppop
How do you know that 1/3 interviewed applicants are accepted? Where did you get that statistic from?
Hi guys! I am a student from the U.S., and I applied to YNC on December 22, by checking off the box on the Yale app on the Common Application. I submitted my essay on January 15th (I know, living life on the edge) and I was emailed with an interview invitation today. So excited!!

http://admissions.yale-nus.edu.sg/apply/#who-do-we-look-for
Under ‘Interview’, it says this:
Due to the volume of applications received, we are only able to offer interviews to shortlisted applicants
This means that only applicants selected for interview will be looked at further for admissions.
@zduo131 I found a document with admissions statistics for admissions in 2015. They listed all these details. I will try to find the link again.
@stopdroppop You’re from India, right? Could you tell me how your stats are? If you’re not comfortable sharing them over here would you mind PMing me? I want to know what kind of applicants get the interview. Most of the people who I know got one are average applicants with ok-ok grades and decent test scores.
I’m a local in Singapore applied for yale-nus 2nd round on 14th jan. got no news yet too
@kennyong9
I am a Singapore P.R and I haven’t heard from them too.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I’ve seen and from friends that have applied, I think only applicants who applied through YNC have received interviews so far. I applied directly to NUS and have heard no news and neither have other friends who applied that way.
Got an interview request yesterday. Applied through the Yale app on the 22nd of december
Till when will they be shortlisting and calling for interviews?
I sent an email to admissions yesterday and received this very vague email back. Sorry, it’s not much help but it means they’re still calling for interviews!
"Thanks for your email.
Shortlisting of applicants is an ongoing process until all applications have been reviewed. If you have been shortlisted, you’ll receive an email notification from us.
All the best!"
@isabelringing
Thanks a lot for the info (:
Got the shortlisted email today. Submitted my Yale-NUS app Jan. 15th.
did you apply through the common app or directly to yale nus?
@kennyong9 Directly to Yale-NUS.
I got an email this morning saying I was invited for an interview!! I applied directly to Yale-NUS.
How selective are the interviews actually? They do write that 15 - 30% of the people get an interview, but what is the total number of applicants? Also, now that we have an interview call, how much do our chances increase of admissions?
wow, so happy for you guys. I didn’t get one I guess that’s it whats the profile of you guys
