@RayLiSingapore Yeah, those were my exact calculations when I posted regarding the decision date ahah
@DEEPUSS Your sentiments are appropriate and well intended and like you I have been trying to cool down this group as well by suggesting they all go take a nap! However, knowing the date (even if it is fabricated) actually helps with the stress. So all this speculation is in fact an attempt to “chill”. Once a consensus on a date is established everyone is likely to go quiet again. I am dreaming of a warm (jet-lagged) weekend in Singapore as we hunker down for the 3rd blizzard in 2 weeks with an expected 18" of snow! So if I go quiet it may be because we have no power…
Actually I didn’t get an invitation for an interview.
I found in my portal a section called additional documents. I used it to upload the certificate of finance downloaded from the college board. I think they will disregard it because they didn’t ask me for any documents.
After all, my SAT score is low (1360/1600) so I think I don’t have a decent chance.
@RayLiSingapore Our EYW deadline was also extended last year. The admissions team is actually very effective at what it does. They typically plan possible routes and dates in advance so they are (at least in my experience) very fast at getting everything done. Personally, I got my flight info just a couple days after signing up for EYW.
Meanwhile, if anyone has any questions about YNC or studentlife, etc, feel free to message me.
@Changi17 Almost all the kids coming from the US were at EYW last year even with short notice. You’d most likely be flying in on a Wednesday and leaving on a Sunday/early Monday. Because the duration is not that long, they were all down for a free and basically spontaneous trip. Aside from handling things on your side (regarding absence from school and family), everything else is planned for you (transportation, accommodation, food). If for some reason, you can’t make it in till a bit later, just let admissions know! I flew in Saturday and left Sunday because of conflicting schedules (not from the US though).
I understand it’s a bit of a rush, but I believe because of Round 2 and their EYW, as well as current student’s exam periods, this is best suited time for EYW (and colleges/unis try not to have inconsistent decision dates over the years)
Tldr; EYW is super worth it, for a lot of students it was the deciding factor. NGL, round 1’s EYW is also better than round 2’s.
@akrem111 I see! Don’t fret, like I said earlier they might waitlist you for Round 2 applications so you never know! And while YNC does care about grades, they also look at your entire application holistically so don’t count yourself out!
@sghml9 thank you for the information! I think the local kids in this forum (me included!) will definitely go for EYW, so long as we actually get accepted hahaha
It would be exciting to be able to go to EYW but I don’t want to get my hopes up until at least admissions results are released.
@achilleees have you visited the school since you’re local?
@BarryA yeap, several times actually! it’s a beautiful campus, a little small but doesn’t really feel that way. it’s got a great energy and you can honestly feel the community spirit the moment you step in. the dining hall looks amazing, and the housing is nice too!
@BarryA YNC itself is small but often the students walk over to NUS facilities (See NUS U’Town on Google) during breaks or free time
Agreed xD the library is oaky themed, the view from the hostel at night is gorgeous.
@achilleees ooo must have been helpful in writing the Why YNC essay. Some schools actually say visiting is an advantage for students since you have your name recorded at the school to show your interest. I liked how the dining hall looks though!
@RayLiSingapore Yeah I’ve heard of the UTown before haha.
@BarryA haha I think YNC knows I’m definitely interested in them - the campus got brought up during my interview and I ended up admitting to my interviewer that I’ve come down to YNC for open houses/application tips session/other reasons about 5 times now lol…my interviewer thought it was funny though so XD
(also how do you add emojis when you’re on the desktop site??? Using “XD” makes me feel like a 12-year-old HAHAHA)
BUT I USE XD
OH NO.
(The emojis are on the top right corner of the box you type in)
@RayLiSingapore HAHAHA it’s okay ray you can still use XD we won’t judge :)) and idk but for some reason I can find the emojis when I’m on mobile but when I’m on my laptop I can’t ?? oh well, it’s not a big deal
Any Idea when Round 1 decisions come out?
@achilleees On the laptop, you can just type them out and they convert
@ANJA123 Hey, welcome to this forum! Official word from YNC has been “before April 1” but also “early April”. We’ve been speculating that it should be either this week or the next, but no one knows for sure
@Islands62 Thanks for the tip!
How’s everyone else doing this week? I’m sad we didn’t get any results but a) week’s not over yet and b) not getting anything is definitely better than having to panic this whole week so :))
@Islands62 Hey welcome back How was your interview?
I was going to say we are likely not expecting results this week but you beat me to it @achilleees.
I think we would expect decision at a date similar to last year, since I noticed that’s how most US colleges work. Still hoping I would receive a TNT email or something haha.
Hi guys! International applicant from India here. Came across this thread today and wow it was good to see people more anxious for results than me, haha. I emailed the admissions office asking them if the results would be out in March because of the EYW registration deadline two days ago, but I haven’t received a reply yet. Hopefully, whatever the decision is, it’ll all turn out well for us all
than I am^
