@elephantskater Hi, welcome to this forum! And nope, I didn’t apply for the Duke-NUS programme, but just wanted to wish you luck for that! It seems like a really good programme so I hope you get in
@momentousmeerkat dude, regardless of how things go for admissions, can I just say THANK YOU for doing that much math on behalf of the rest of us :)) But seriously, great find, and I’m starting to think it’ll probably be this week too. I agree with @Scrambled88 that YNC probably wants to close 2nd round admissions first, so like what @primenumber said, it’s probably gotta be this week!
Super excited and super nervous, haha! I’m currently helping my friends who are applying for round 2 and it’s bringing back memories of stressing over the quick takes and the essays, lol. How’s everyone else doing? And have you guys applied to any other SG unis?
@Hopeful2022 it seems they were only sent out to applicants who had applied through yale. i know of at least 3 accepted applicants who did not receive any email about their decision at any point. fingers crossed for tomorrow!
you’re welcome! its for the benefit of us all. i recently took two rejections from good schools so im feeling way down and pessimistic about yale-nus and the other good schools ive applied to. hopefully all of us here can get some good news soon. best of luck!!
@momentousmeerkat YNC definitely hasn’t informed applicants beforehand of decisions release in the past years. @Hopeful2022 no other warnings, but @ArtistNatureLove has stated that they were supposed to/likely to release last week, so I personally think we can expect it anytime this week
Hi guys, i applied for round 2 and it says that the shortlisted candidates are called for an interview by mid April, but what do i do if another university needs me to accept by 5th April. YNC had always been my dream school and my first choice, helpp.
@lilkidlover Congrats on your offer! Unfortunately, YNC cannot speed up application processes for applicants in your situation. Round 2 decisions will be coming out end April - early May. I understand how frustrating that can be since applications is already a stressful time period and conflicting timelines definitely do not help!
I assume that the other university is your second choice, non binding and not in Singapore. Some of my friends in your situation accepted the offer and paid the deposit first, because even being strong candidates, there was no way to be sure if YNC would accepted them. When they were then accepted to YNC, they withdrew from the other university and had to let go of the deposit fees.
Maybe you can contact the university/YNC/your school counselor to ask for advice (tho the other uni may take it wrongly)? Sorry you’re in such a predicament! I wish you all the best.
@lilkidlover In addition to the comment above, perhaps you could check with the university if they could extend acceptance deadline with a solid reason? Otherwise, I think securing your place at the particular university would be the safer option for you.
@lilkidlover Hi5 on SUTD! I accepted the offer already - I don’t see any harm in doing that. They haven’t asked for any deposit yet. I accepted their offer a few days ago
hello!! i applied for Yale-NUS in round 2 (aka i submitted everything yesterday lol) I’m a singaporean a level student. my grades are by no means stellar and seeing everyone else’s amazing grades is quite terrifying but fingers crossed cos i’ve got a fair bit of community work, leadership roles and sports achievements.
@jyjyjy Haha im also an A lvl sg student and i applied for round one!! My prelim grades were also nowhere stellar but i was at the least top 20% in my cohort. A lvl results wasnt super amazing (80rp) but I managed to land an interview. Prolly because I’m very involved in sports and dance outside school, so no worries! As long as you show them that you are actively involved in your community and your ability to grasp their rigorous curriculum, i think you will still stand a chance. all the best!
@slinghot That is so good and reassuring to hear!!! My RP is pretty close to yours hopefully they can see my sincerity in my application? Hahaha hope your interview went well and that you’ll get an acceptance soon!
