Yale-NUS College Class of 2022

@prams2k please share your stats, if you don’t mind. Also useful would be to know is whether you are applying as a Singapore Citizen/PR or as an international applicant.

@pigeon001 you have a very good shot at the admission, and perhaps even the big scholarships. Did you apply ED for Yale, how did that go? What is your preference for college, US or Singapore?

@momentousmeerkat thanks for sharing the link. Yes, it is dated. It is from the first batch and from what I read elsewhere, they have not released such official stats after that year, much to to the unhappiness of the YNC student body (http://theoctant.org/edition/iv-11/news/admissions-statistics-yale-nus/).

They now appear to release only the admit rate, but not the SAT percentiles. According to this article (https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2017/04/20/yale-nus-posts-5-percent-admit-rate/) YNC admitted 6.27 percent of its applicants for the class of 2020 and admitted 6.9 percent of its applicants for the class of 2021.

@India2018 have you heard anything? I’ve shared my stats above.

Hello from a student of class 2021!! I think there were a lot of people who wanted to clarify doubts with me buy unfortunately I wasn’t active on cc after my admission. Feel free to pm me if you want to know anything about life at YNC (which is great)!! And I see that a few articles about YNC are being circulated but be careful not put your trust on a random article. Again good luck with your application!!

Thanks @DEEPUSS for returning to to CC to help us out with information/advice.

@ccauth I haven’t heard anything yet. I’ll be sure to update here if I do.

@India2018 I EDd columbia and got deferred… Honestly as of now I think I could actually make the best out of college at Singapore but who knows how things will turn out. I just submitted my supp - do you think it’s too late for them to consider?

@pigeon001 no I don’t think it’s late :slight_smile: so you submitted the app on 15th Nov? when did you receive the interview invitation?

@ccauth I applied for Yale on 1/2 so I’m guessing my app went into Yale NUS’s system on the same day. My interviewer contacted me on 1/17!

@pigeon001 the interview is evidence that your application has been taken into consideration! Whatever gaps that might’ve been there in your interest for YNC, your supp essay will help fill.

the portal said that they have received my test scores today… do you think they are reviewing my application? …

just had my interview today! I still have yet to submit my why us essay…Is it too late?

@chimilk i dont think it’s late you can ask the admissions counselor. oh you submitted through the Yale app? when did you apply and when did you receive the interview invi? can you share your stats? :slight_smile:

Hi! Adding myself to this thread kind of late, but I applied through the Yale RD application (beginning of Jan), submitted the supplemental essay in time and haven’t heard about an interview yet (but I’m really hoping!).

Anyone applying with the med or law additional essays?

@Islands62 if you dont mind please share some of your stats, are you an intl applicant?

@ccauth
Hi ccauth! I applied I think 12/30 or 12/31, so pushing on the boundaries! I did submit thru the Yale app and I’m an intl applicant as well! In terms of receiving my interview invi, I got it about two weeks after on 1/14! When I did the interview, my interviewer told me that a colleague already read all my stuff and wrote notes for her as a reference during the interview. From what I understand, it seems like they are very efficient!!

I plan on going into Mathematical, Computational, and Statistical Sciences. Stats wise I’m a S.E.A female (living elsewhere as an intl student) w/ 3.89 UW, 35 ACT, Math 2: 800, Bio-M:760. For AP scores, I took compsci A, calc bc, biology, chinese, macroecon, microecon and got a 5 on all of them. Current APs I’m taking: phys c: electricity and magnetism, phys c: mechanics, psych, english language, statistics, and music theory! If you go to my profile and check out one of my other posts, you can see more there!

I wish you the best of luck!

International Student here, submitted app on January 20th and got an email for interview on Jan 26th. Are you guys able to select interview dates in February? The system only allows me to select 30th and 31st though. Is anyone applying for their financial aid though? Is it weird that they don’t ask us to list out our expenses?

Anyway my stats aren’t as impressive as everyone who shared here lol so I guess I should be realistic with my chances. :slight_smile:

@BarryA I guess you submitted for round 2? What region are you from? :slight_smile: Oh and you just received your interview email?

@ccauth I submitted for Round 1 - they actually extended Round 1 to 22nd of January :slight_smile: Yes, I just received the email. Have you had your interview already? I’m from South-East Asia.

@BarryA I’m from SEA too but I haven’t received the email…
