Which of the two?
Both of them are international and in international settings (Abu Dhabi and Singapore).
On one side NYUAD is (way) more generous with FA. But it has a more pre-professional vibe and if you want to major in sciences you start from semester one with heavy course load. While Yale-NUS has a common curriculum that makes you explore for two years, and you start with your major from the third year.
Somehow the Yale-NUS community and its setting in Singapore seem to be more spontaneous, while life in Abu Dhabi is more of an “organized fun”, but this is just my perception.
WHat do you guys think? It’s a real tough decision. Any opinion on the matter is much appreciated!
Thank you!!!
I’m from Singapore, so I might be kinda biased, but I’m going to go with Yale-NUS. I personally don’t like their common curriculum too much, I agree they should let students go straight into their major earlier, but they do offer great opportunities for research and exchange programmes (especially with Yale).
Weather’s great (then again, subjective, but it’s a pretty decent 85 degrees all year round, doesn’t often reach the crazy 100+ temps), very VERY safe country (I’m a teenage girl and I can go walking around at midnight alone), Internet connection is crazy fast, Yale-NUS is quite international and quite westernized (so not that much of a culture shock) but still with obvious Asian POVs to keep it interesting.
If you’re going into science, Singapore’s the Asian hub for science research (a lot of pharm companies, etc have bases in Singapore), if you’re good you can try out for internships during summer. Hope this helps!
Yale-NUS is definitely a school where the majority of students spend tons of time studying (largely due to the many students coming from Singapore). Half of Yale-NUS’s student body hails from Singapore, making Yale-NUS less diversified.
If you’re looking to study abroad, NYUAD’s study abroad program is much better than Yale-NUS’s.
