YALE RD CLASS OF 2019

To the people who don’t feel so great right now, read this: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/15/opinion/sunday/frank-bruni-how-to-survive-the-college-admissions-madness.html

I guarantee you’ll realize that some of these schools are nothing but a name

ACCEPTED! My dream came true.

Accepted! This is incredible. Congrats and good luck to everyone!

@123Monkey I got accepted to UW Madison a couple days ago, and am seriously considering going there now… And thank you, I could definitely use some luck after today

@Tkat97‌ @Songbird325‌ I feel you… The pain is such an ego-crusher…

My daughter was rejected. She’s taking it better than I am!
Congratulations to the accepted students.
To those who were rejected, you hold your heads high. You are still the amazing students you were prior to 5:00 EST today, and you’ll be the same amazing students tomorrow when you wake up.

@Songbird325 same here! I really have no idea what I did wrong; I thought I was definitely going to get into some of these top schools because of my stats. it all surprised me so much, and in general, I’m really disillusioned with America’s college system… idk, i’m just a little upset right now…

Sigh rejected. It’s been a great ride with all of you and congrats to those accepted

So blessed to have been accepted (still trembling)!!! Although I haven’t officially committed, I am 90% sure that I will be a bulldog this fall!!

Boola boola!

So grateful to have been accepted! I am deciding between the Vagelos Scholars Program in the Molecular Life Sciences at UPenn or attending Yale, but really really like Yale and will decide after Bulldog Days.

How do you login? My Eli account isn’t letting me login…

D was Accepted! We are so excited because two kids from her school were accepted and we are in a small town in CT. She was waitlisted Harvard and Brown today and was accepted at Georgetown,Boston College (honors),Tufts,Fordham and Hofstra. But she is DEFINITELY A BULLDOG!!

What a day! Accepted by Yale and Columbia, rejected by Cornell and Dartmouth!!!

S accepted! He was deferred SCEA so I am super excited for him. Also into Penn and Cornell and wait listed at Princeton. Congrats to everyone who got in! To those who did not, you will be successful wherever you choose to go. I kept repeating that to my son these last few months too. Now he is fortunate to have some excellent choices but I think his heart still belongs to Yale.

@songbird325 @easycadence‌ @Neurogirl07‌ and all others hurt by the rejection, someone posted this article earlier in the thread, but it bears repeating: http://www.buzzfeed.com/mollyhensleyclancy/i-saw-my-admissions-files-before-yale-destroyed-them#.dp8Odymvo

You can’t take this personally. This article gives great insight into the admissions process at Yale. You did everything you could do. The decision may have come down to something as uncontrollable as the demographics of the school you attend for all you know. You have clearly done something right in high school if you have made it to this point. Now go do something great with the rest of your life, Don’t let what 2 or 3 people put on a scorecard dictate your worth.

I second what LegacyMom said. The Ivies are not picking the best and most deserving applicants. They are filling a class with different types of people and they are picking from among so many incredibly qualified applicants that getting in is to a large extent random. Hence some are rejected by Yale and accepted by Harvard and vice versa; some get into both; and some, equally randomly, don’t get any Ivy acceptances. But it’s not the name of your college that will make you successful later in life. It’s the drive, intellect, and ambition that made you try for it in the first place that is going to propel you forward. Go ahead and mourn for a day if you didn’t get in. But don’t ever take a college rejection as a judgment of your worth as a person or of your chances of achieving your life’s goals. It is nothing of the kind.

D was accepted. Just Wow.

@Tkat97‌ I know how you feel heavy sigh and the disappointed looks my parents keep giving me aren’t helping my self-esteem much either. But it’s okay! We have four years to show Yale what they’ll be missing out on

@CIEE83 “the ivy’s are not picking the best and most deserving applicants” ??

Chances are if you’re being accepted to an ivy you’ve demonstrated in some capacity that you are deserving of it.

I’m not sure if you were intentionally trying to undermine the achievements of accepted applicants but I feel that I played my cards right , worked hard, got lucky, and was accepted.

While I completely agree with everything else you said, I did take offense to the above quote

Feeling very fortunate for S to have gotten in, on both coasts, but @hhiiiiiiii‌ i agree with @CIEE83‌ that truly deserving and qualified applicants are not admitted. You included luck in your list. Agreed, if you are accepted, you are deserving. But many with same credits, stats and extraordinary achievements are not admitted. Congrats to all!!
