OK, maybe that’s an exaggeration – since I’m not the AO. I’d say a very very slim chance based upon how they showed themselves – lack of depth, intellectual curiosity, bland, only moderately interested. One was downright immature.
Hey guys! Less than a month and a half until we hear back! Ugh this one Asian kid with a 2390 from my school literally only applied to Yale SCEA because he’s planning to major in engineering and says there’s no way they’ll reject him He doesn’t even like the school and has stated it multiple times! Yale has been my dream school for the last two years…I’m just hoping they can sense how he isn’t being genuine…but that’s probably too much to hope for! Guess we’ll see what happens when decisions come out…
He’s literally only using Yale as a safety too…he really wants Harvard but wants the “comfort” of getting into college…people like this kill me inside, I swear
Are we supposed to send Midyear reports / midyear transcripts before or after we hear back in December?
After
@yalehopeful017 , I can’t promise anything, but AO (and interviewers) are pretty good at figuring out who someone really is. Yale as a safety! Ha :))
Some advice: focus on your app, your college choices. Stay in your lane. Good luck.
I know interviews are random but the wait is killing me. I really hope that I get contacted for an interview.
@yalehopeful017 Not sure what the relevance of his being Asian is - I felt that was a little racist. That said, I think he’ll be in for a nasty surprise come December 15th. Unless he has something extremely significant on his application, he has the same chance as anyone else applying of getting in which is not high at all. Maybe even less because if that side of his personality comes off in the essay, I don’t think the AOs would be too inclined to accept him!
@dreamforivy that is 100% untrue. Penn has a goal to interview all the applicants they can, and your name is sent out to for interview before anyone has read your application. And it is the same for Yale.
one of my teachers wrote an additional teacher recommendation for me yesterday - i had already sent the required ones when i submitted my common app - do you think it would be necessary to add another teacher rec to my application at this point? or would the admissions be bothered by having to read another one?
Yale discourages addit rec letters that basically repeat what’s already in the other rec letters. What can this teacher add of substance that’s not already in your others? Likely very little. I wouldn’t send it in
I don’t mean to be racist…sorry!
Thanks!!! That definitely makes me feel better. I love having a group like you guys to talk about things with <3 I feel grateful! Hopefully most of us can become classmates someday!!!
Also, how many more people do you guys think they’ll take early this year?
I think they will take slightly more than they did last year due to the addition of the new residential colleges. I would also predict they will turn more towards the SCEA pool for many of the new slots (keeping yield rates up). So 900 to 1000 would be my guess.
The portal says decisions are released December 15th. At what time on that day will they be available?
December 15th 5 pm EST
@Gh0st3737
Yale’s Dean of Undergraduate Admissions said that applicants on the regular pool will be more affected by this expansion (according to an article I saw on the Yale News). But I’d love to see the numbers they take in early expand to 900-ish. I applied SCEA to Yale too, so…
Has anyone been contacted for an interview recently? Been violently refreshing my email…
@GLPDickson Dang oh well. At least that means we may have a higher chance in RD if we end up getting deferred [-O<
@bread07 I think I got contacted for an interview about 2-3 days after submitting, but I live in a big city so there are lots of alums. Don’t worry about not interviewing, there simply may not have been any alumni in your area, and it won’t negatively impact your application.
