Yale, UPenn, Columbia, UVA EA, Boston U, Brandeis, Northeastern, NYU, Hofstra (local safety) are the ones I applied to so far. I might apply to Macaulay Honors College and Georgetown if I have time to do the supplements, and my mom wants me to apply to Harvard but I highly doubt I’d get in and honestly I wouldn’t go if I did if I got into the top schools on my list (my favorites being Yale, UPenn, and BU). Oh and I also got nominated for the UVA Jefferson Scholarship so I’ll see where that leads me!
I had my on campus interview on November 10th. I didn’t bring a resume. I think it went well; however, my interviewer was a senior who’s majoring in engineering while I want to do English lit or global affairs so I’m not sure if that was a good or bad thing.
Just wondering guys…who said yes to being considered for Yale NUS? I personally said no
Omg I totally feel this…I was so grateful that my interviewer was heavily involved in English
Where is everyone from?
Nepal yay
I live really close to Yale and I haven’t been contacted about an interview. I’m getting really concerned
@yalehopeful017 Pakistan, but live in Bahrain
What does everyone’s common app read on the admissions portal? Received or downloaded etc?
downloaded
Mine says received…
Mine says received in the admissions portal, downloaded on common app
@arizonateen Does it say “received” in common app?
Downloaded on the common app, received on the admissions portal.
Any body who still waiting for Counselor Recommendation? My daughter submitted all application materials but on her portal the Counselor Recommendation area is still shown as “waiting”. On her common apps only the transcript from counselor had been submitted. Nothing displayed at the Counselor Recommendation
Any body has same situation? Any advices?
I still haven’t received my Yale portal, should I be concerned?
@zhenfrankhan I was in a similar situation with one of my teacher recommendations, who though completed her recommendation, never got to put it on the common app for personal reasons. I had my guidance counselor fax it to Yale from the school, but even then it did not say it had been received. I emailed the admissions office and they advised my guidance counselor to simply email it as it would be easier. I would advise your daughter email the office to see if they have received it or not, or is the problem that the counselor hasn’t finished the recommendation?
Hey all, I need some insight here. I will likely get one C and one B this trimester in my 4 AP course schedule (considered rigorous at my school). I’m a solid A student, top 5%, successfully taken college courses at a local university, with only one other B in my high school career. How will that affect admissions? Will Yale see my 1st trimester grades before or after making their final decision?
@zhenfrankhan The same thing happened to me. My portal said “waiting” on counselor recommendation, but everything else was there. You can use Common App’s live chat feature to talk to someone that works there, they are very friendly. The gentleman that helped me said my counselor had finished everything (he could see what she had down), but she just hadn’t pressed submit. It also happened with one of my teachers. I would email your guidance counselor and ask them to double check that they submitted it. As saadthekhan said, it will probably be easier just to have your counselor email it to Yale’s office of admissions.
Not sure if this will help anyone, but I live in the rural southeast and have not been contacted for an interview. However, I’m not sure if there are any Yale alumni in my area.
