Yale SCEA Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

I just tried the link and it said “this portal is only for admitted students.” Does this mean I was rejected/deferred? How confident are you that this is accurate? @y90y90 I didn’t really want to find out like that, I shouldn’t have clicked the link.

I feel like what happened last year with that link probably wasn’t intentional and they’re going to prevent that from happening again, but I don’t know.

@elijaheliot It doesn’t mean anything right now; I see that message too. If there’s even any truth to it, it’ll probably only work at most 1-2 days before decisions are released. As of now, there’s still a week left lol

@ambiguouspronoun yeah that’s kinda what I’m thinking too.

@elijaheliot , it’s nearly a week from decision time. Even if that hack worked, it wouldn’t work this early.

I know it’s tough to do, but relax. Take deep breaths. Getting into Yale would be awesome, but not getting into Yale will be awesome also, just different.

ETA: I just realized that my verb tenses above might mean something to all of you who are focused on reading meaning into pigeon entrails; I KNOW NOTHING.

@ambiguouspronoun @y90y90
Yeah I read through last year’s thread and it does seem unlikely that they would make the same mistake twice. It’s Yale though–I wouldn’t have expected them to make that mistake once. I don’t think I’ll check it again until 12/15 at 3 p.m. AZ time, just to be sure that the results are correct.

could someone link last year’s scea discussion (the one with the discussion of the link)? I can’t seem to find the thread. thanks!

has anyone gotten anything other than “this is for admitted students”

@wanderlust618

That is what I got. Now I am worried they are going to know I checked and not accept me even if they had planned to! @IxnayBob, talk me down!

thank you @elijaheliot !

does anyone else have fairly regular dreams about different decision outcomes?

@SkipWoosnam , I can say to a moral certainty that Yale will not know that you checked, and furthermore, that if they knew they wouldn’t hold it against you.

we gotta figure this portal out. how bonafide is this?

Guys - if I were you, I would be leery of trying such methods. I believe another college revoked several admissions due to such hacks. Just a word of caution.

if they didn’t do anything to the ppl last year, it won’t happen this year.

but seriously, what is this portal y’all XD

@wanderlust618 I actually had a dream last night that my friend got into Cornell (he applied ED) but I haven’t had any dreams about myself yet!

It’s not like anyone is hacking anything, it’s just a link that happened to have a leak next year. I really don’t think there’s any point in looking so deeply into this. Just calm down guys, we’ll find out in 6 days.

To be clear, I was using the word “hack” in its sense of “An event that is unexpected and favors a particular person especially in competetion. Also, when some one uses a video game glitch, expolit or trainer to give them an advantage.” As in “life hack.”

Those kids who got in trouble at HBS, were doing somethzing completely different.

Decided to join the page finally. Good luck to everyone and let’s try not to overwhelm ourselves for the next 6 days. :wink:

What are the chances that Yale does something similar to Brown? Brown said on their website that decisions would come out on Wednesday the 14th, but they called hundreds of applicants today (5 from my school) to tell them they’d been accepted…
